Ball Lightning Mystery – The Sun in a Globe ?
"On August 25, 1965, in Dunnellon, Florida, Mr. And Mrs. Robert B. Greenlee and a Mrs. Riggs were relaxing on their fiberglass-screened, roofed patio. There was thunder in the distance and a slight drizzle. Mrs. Greenlee had just swatted a fly when a ball of lightning the size of a basketball appeared immediately in front of her. The ball was later described as being of a color and brightness comparable to the flash seen in arc welding, with a fuzzy appearance around the edges. Mrs. Riggs did not see the ball itself, but saw the flyswatter 'edged in fire' dropping on the floor. The movement of the ball to the floor was accompanied by a report 'like a shotgun blast'... with respect to the fly, Mrs. Riggs commented, ‘you sure got him that time’ (Science, 151:634, 1966)" 1
Possibly the gift of "infinite energy" in a globe, a potential power source for propelling us to the stars... taken out by an old lady with a flyswatter? I'm sure that Douglas Adams could find some inspiration somewhere in that story.
"Thousands of people have seen ball lightning and hundreds of scientists have written about it. Nevertheless, it remains as inscrutable as ever. Science admits the objective reality of these strange, mobile globes of light, but has been unsuccessful at explaining their origin or their explosive demise.
One reason ball lightning resists explanation is that it’s nature is so variable. It may be as small as a pea or as large as a house. It may be violet, red, or yellow, or may even change colors during it’s brief life. The shape of ball lightning is usually spherical, but rods, dumbbells, spiked balls, and other shapes have been sighted. Sometimes ball lightning appears to have internal structure; strange appendages may accompany the main body of the phenomenon.
Ball lightning is a dynamic thing. It may glide silently and disinterestedly past an observer or it may inquisitively explore a room as if directed by intelligence. While many of these enigmatic apparitions dematerialize silently, most seem to explode violently. One has to hedge about the location of the sound because actual explosions seem to occur elsewhere – outside the house in which the ball has appeared, for example. This observation, plus the frequent materialization of ball lightning in closed rooms and metal aircraft, suggests that the process of electrical induction may be involved in some cases. In other words, electrical forces from an enveloping thunderstorm may create a glowing ball of plasma in the air inside a closed container similar to the Saint Elmo’s fire induced on pointed objects. When the electrical forces disappear (usually with a peal of thunder), the ball lightning vanishes. Observers, however, have no doubt that something palpable has visited them because the room is usually filled with the smell of electricity (ozone) and there may be considerable material damage.
Strangely, ball lightning rarely hurts people seriously, even though it may follow and hover around them. Ordinary lightning in contrast kills many. This may be a misleading observation because ordinary lightning is much more common than ball lightning.
There is no such thing as a standard description of ball lightning. If pressed for such information, one would have to say that most ball lightning is spherical, yellowish (perhaps with a fringe or hazy halo), and exists for only 5 to 10 seconds, disappearing with a detonation. But this description glosses over the incredible scope of this phenomenon, as detailed in the following eyewitness accounts.
No reasonable explanation exists for ball lightning. Glowing spheres of plasma created by natural electromagnetic forces have been found wanting. Others have suggested anti-matter meteorites, violent chemical reactions in the atmosphere, and even intense cosmic radiation. The sheer difficulty in accounting for ball lightning has led some scientists to conclude that all such observations are illusory – aberrations of the eye and brain. But photographs of ball lightning do exist (see MORE RECENT photo below of Melbourne, Victoria Australia ball lightning taken in 2002 – TB2012) and we must come to terms with the reality of this phenomenon. Perhaps the intense electrical forces occurring during some thunderstorms somehow distort our space-time continuum and provide a fleeting glimpse into some unknown cosmos. Ball lightning is strange enough to stimulate such wild thoughts." 2

The most typical manifestation of ball lightning might be as represented in the 1902 sketch at the head of this piece, which portrays certain Australian gentlemen being inconvenienced by said phenomenon, possibly at tea time.

"R. Clark was walking along a road in West Yorkshire, England, when he was overtaken by a thunderstorm. ‘After one lightning discharge, there appeared a ball of light, electric blue in the center with an ill-defined yellow fringe, the whole being about 18 inches in diameter. It first appeared from beneath the tree branches on my side of the road, perhaps 20 yards away, and approached slowly with a staggering, undulating motion, but keeping approximately to the same height under the trees. As it approached me , it crossed the road gradually and then, when opposite me, turned back across the road and slightly backward, passed through the lodge gates where I lost sight of it.’(Weather,20:134,1965)."4
Case 3:
"On August 8, 1975, the following display occurred in England during a vigorous thunderstorm: ‘The witness was in the kitchen of her house in Smethwick, Warley, wt about 1945, when a sphere of light appeared over the cooker. The ball was approximately 10 cm (4 inches) across and surrounded by a flame–colored halo; it’s color was bright blue to purple. The ball moved straight towards the witness at an estimated height of 95 cm from the ground. Burning heat was felt, and there was a singeing smell. A sound something like a rattle was heard. . .’The ball seemed to hit me below the belt, as it were, and I automatically brushed it away from me and it just disappeared. Where I brushed it away there appeared a redness and swelling on my left hand. It seemed as if my gold wedding ring was burning into my finger.’ A hole 4 by 11 cm. was made in the woman’s dress, but without charred edges.(Nature,260:596,1976)." 5
Ball lightning as small as 1 inch or less in diameter has been described, sometimes performing such tricks as attaching to the ends of fingers.
In Part 2, we will look at scientific attempts to explain these apparitions, including some of Nicola Tesla’s experience with them and what may be a modern theory and experiment that establishes a model for what the basic building blocks of naturally occurring ball lightning might be. Finally, is there a connection between ball lightning, the Sun and the "Electric Universe" theories?

I experienced it once (and that's enough, thank you). Us bunch of guys were standing in front of a metal frame used for terminating underground phone cables. There was a newly laid 500-pair cable (real fat mother) lying on the frame, still unearthed.
We were having a coffee break when a 1-foot magnesium-fire type white ball appeared on the frame and in a split-second disappeared in an almighty explosion.
No more work that day. There was a thunderstorm going on a couple of kilometres away, at the start point of the cable. No one expected this to happen. It must have been induction current, but it was never really answered.

I was at Naval Air Station Pensacola, at the naval Air Museum, standing underneath the nose of a large fighter jet on display right out front (you know the one, scarlet...rght by the yardarm style flagpole?) when lightning (ball or otherwise) hit the top of the yardarm, travelled down thru the pole, exited at the base to link up with an underground electrical cable going to a above ground-level floodlight, exited the floodlight and, with a trmendous flash and *BOOM*, struck the rear engine nacelles mere feet from me! SWEET EFFING JAYZU!
Talked about that for a week.
Another incident...one rainy Sunday morning, about 11:11, some pals and I were sitting in the front room, windows and screen doors open, listening to teh Doobie Brothers, and having the 1st beer and joint of the day. Suddenly, the everyone in the room AND the ROOM itself seemed to take a big inhale....and an electrical charge went thru the room...maybe invsible ball lightning?...hairs on end and time stood still....then there was this general 'release', then *BOOM* outside! We we're like, 'DUUUUUDE' and 'HEEEEEEY, that's some goooood shit'!".
New Horizons launch delayed to 2:10 EST. Winds are 'higher' ;) than desired, otherwise nice weather here in NE Fla. I'n watching this so I can run outside the office and see if I can see the bird launching, which we can often see Cape Canaveral launches here in Jax.

Speculation about an attack on Iran is running through the mainstream news now and I think that is creating unspoken anxiety.

I don't think that there is an implication that McCain did anything wrong, other that perhaps unwisely make use of pre-WW2 1000 pound bombs that were unstable. He or his bosses might have been going for the most "bang-for-the-buck" by using these things and the gamble turned out to be a bad one.
I think Madsen's point is that there is a paper trail that could be used to create "guilt by association" by the coincidence that both McCains were involved in a series of unfortunate events that might be sufficient to cost John McCain an election, were it to be revealed and emphasized.

Nice work on the blog. I have to admit my only knowledge here is Tesla. I will have to re-read his bio to get a bit more in touch with what he was about. I know he experimented with a bunch of different things. He's even suspected of being the cause of Tunguska, trying to show off the Byrd? while he was at the NP.
If anyone has any good photo knowledge of the moon take a look at the north pole and ME quadrant? Trying to see if anything is different about it. I think it is going to be a cloudy night here, so I won't be able to see it. TIA.

Marfa lights...If it is ball lightning, it would be CONTINOUS ball lightning, as those things are apparently visible all the time(at night). There might be some invisible source on aremote mountain peak somewhere, but I don't know. It's not a mirage, as I think these things were seen first back in covered wagon days when there were no car lights.
The energy imparted to ball lightning is SO great, that unknown physics may truly be in operation. Perhaps even some type of superconductivity, as little else could explain the perpetuation of highly cohesive electromagnetic fields and currents.

The conclusion I draw from this experience is that jpeg pictures which are dropped into .doc files are somehow no longer REALLY jpeg images, unless something special is done to them !
I have no answer, TB...something weird...Next time, we know. But now all is as you had planned!

The eyes are now on the launch of New Horizons, the Pluto Plutonium Probe. Probably of some concern for those in Southern Florida. Some quick facts:
* A Lockheed Martin Atlas 5 rocket will carry NASA's New Horizons spacecraft
* The probe weights 1045 pounds
* New Horizons will be the fastest thing ever built by humans, but it will take it nine years to reach Pluto, which orbits the sun at an average distance of 3.7 billion miles
* A single radioisotope thermoelectric generator will provide the spacecraft's electrical power, delivering about 200 watts by the time New Horizons reaches Pluto. The probe's half-dozen instruments require just 2.3 to 6.3 watts each - less than the power of a typical night light
* 24 pounds of plutonium 238 dioxide is required to provide that power

WHT and TNG Observations Prove that the Large Trans-Neptunian Object 2005 FY9 is Very Similar to Pluto
Visible and near-infrared spectroscopic observations carried out on August 1st 2005 by a group leaded by the ING-IAC astronomer Javier Licandro using the William Herschel Telescope (WHT) and the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG) at El Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory show that the recently discovered trans-neptunian object (TNO) 2005 FY9 is very similar to Pluto. Results have been published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics (Licandro et al., 2006, A&A, 445, 35L).
2005 FY9 is the third brightest known TNO, after 2003 UB313 and Pluto. Although discovered early in 2005 by USA astronomers M. Brown and co-workers, the discovery wasn't reported until July 29th. The size of 2005 FY9 is 0.7 times that of Pluto approximately. The semi-major axis of its orbit is 46 Astronomical Units (AU, 1 AU=149,597,892 kilometres), the perihelion distance is 39 AU and the inclination of the orbit is 29 deg. These values are typical of the classical TNO family.
Visible spectroscopy was obtained using the ISIS spectrograph on the WHT, and near-infrared spectroscopy was obtained using the NICS spectrograph on the TNG. The complete visible and near-infrared spectrum is shown in Figure 2 and compared with the spectrum of Pluto and that of pure methane ice. Figure 2 clearly shows that the spectra of both TNOs are very similar. They are dominated by strong absorption bands produced by methan ice. In fact, the absorption bands in the spectrum of 2005 FY9 are deeper than in the spectrum of Pluto as a result of the larger abundance of methane ice in 2005 FY9. Also the colour of the surface of the TNO is red (indicated by the slope of the spectrum), similar to that of Pluto. This shows the presence of complex organic compounds in the surface.
The discovery of a Pluto 'twin' in the trans-neptunian belt is relevant as Pluto is the only known TNO possessing a small atmosphere. The similar size and surface composition of 2005 FY9 are facts that suggest it can also have such a tenuous bound atmosphere.
Until now only one known TNO, Pluto, showed the presence of strong methane ice absorption bands in the spectrum. However, apart from 2005 FY9, recently these bands were also observed in the spectrum of the largest yet known TNO, 2003 UB313 (Brown et al., 2005, ApJ, 635, 97). As shown in Figure 3, the near infrared spectrum of 2003 UB313 is very similar to that of 2005 FY9.
The discovery that 2005 FY9 is very similar to Pluto provides astronomers with a new and exciting laboratory for the study of volatile mixing and transport, atmospheric freeze-out and escape, ice chemistry, and nitrogen phase transitions in Pluto-like objects.

Actually, the cables were not cut. The parachute support mechanism was removed at touchdown by small automatic detonators. As far as anyone getting burnt, once we found it in the Utah winter night, it already assumed environmental tempetature. The footprints were from the recovery team and "news" crew.
Also, typically, we would never drop in straight down. Most of our landings are angular due to Earth's rotation. Plus, we can use atmospheric friction like an air brake to help slow the craft down somewhat.

It was rolled around during visual inspection checking for any breaches or damage. Structural integrity was 100%. Due to some high winds caused by a nearby storm, the probe bounced and was dragged for several metres before finally resting. After detonation, the parachute blew away and was recovered several hundred metres from the final resting site. In fact, it landed quite far from target.
I hope this addresses any comments or questions. If I missed any, please let me know.

Mass spectrometry -- a technique for measuring the mass of atoms or molecules -- is a key strength of the scientists at the magnet lab. The technique converts molecules to ions that then are separated, using magnetic fields, according to the ratio of their mass to electric charge. At the lab, scientists will "shoot" the cosmic dust with a laser, vaporizing the grains and turning them into an aerosol. That aerosol then will be simultaneously directed to two different mass spectrometers for analyses; one spectrometer will scan the sample for major elements, while the other measures a selection of the trace constituents. This will tell the scientists what elements are in the grains; from that, insights into the processes that formed the comets will be learned.

Well there's your first mistake, SK. You can't just change the name of an image file and thereby change the binary format of the data in the file. Unless you selected JPG from a popup menu, then that should give you an actual JPEG file, also named '.jpg'.
TB2012 should've known better than to give you a Word doc if the contents were destined for a blog page, since Word embeds images in .doc files in such a way that makes you want to poke your eyeballs out with a ball-point pen if you try to save them as external images. For article submitters, I'd recommend naming your images after the paragraph they reference, like 'para3.jpg' should be placed next to or after paragraph 3. Also, limit the formats of submitted article images to either GIF/PNG (drawings) or JPEG (photos).

There's a lot of things I've abstained from weighing-in upon here, such as the name of this site. Mi should at least voat on linking to TEM -- I think it's necessary to link to at least some of the articles which provide a foundational understanding of our work here, for the sake of newbies just arriving. Great article on ball lightning, TB2012. I've never seen it in person, but my mom saw it twice. Once, when we lived in Indiana (I was under 4 at the time), she was in the kitchen during a thunderstorm. She told me that she heard a CRRACCKKK!!!, and then there was this bright ball of light about 2 feet away from her. It disappeared quickly, but it made her terrified of lightning (I like to watch lightning, but I'm not too thrilled with it either, because when we were in Indiana, lightning struck our house, and the bolt stopped right over my crib where I was sleeping). The other time was long after we moved back to Maryland (I was born here before we moved to Indiana, and we moved back shortly before my sister was born). We were upstairs watching a passing cumulonimbus cloud (aka a thunderstorm). We could see lightning arcing through the cloud, and my mom said that she saw ball lightning. Can't wait for part 2...

Hey all! Apparently I've been in 'lurker' mode meself of late and I'm really not sure why. I haven't really had a lot to say that isn't already being covered just fine by others I s'pose. Me own blog's been suffering pretty badly as well as I just haven't been inspired to write much of anything of late and I'm not sure what is up with that.
On strange symptoms, however, I have a few things to say. I, too, have been having some pretty intense physical symptoms of "something" for which I am completely at a loss to explain. For me, it started approximately one week before Halloween 2005. I recall going to bed on a Saturday evening feeling just fine and waking up the next day feeling like my right shoulder was literally going to blow right off me torso. After a while, the pressure started to go away but the pain only intensified. For the next several days I was in absolute agony. Screaming pain in my right shoulder and arm such that, had it been the other side, I would have been convinced the old family history of heart problems may have finally caught me.
I never even considered going to a doctor (long story for another time, suffice to say unless my unconscious self is stuffed onto an ambulance by well meaning loved ones, I NEVER intend to visit a Medical Practitioner again) but finally got so tired of going to bed in pain and waking up in more so that I sought alternative therapy. About two acupuncture sessions later and I was out of money for further appointments. The pain was barely dented but much of the muscle seizures and cramping was pretty well eradicated so not a complete loss.
Since then, the pain has finally minimized, but I still have some serious weirdness going on in my right arm. Muscles still twinge a lot and still occasionally getting feelings of massive pressure in the shoulder. The oddest however is a fairly recent addition of occasionally feeling sensations of electrical current running through that same arm and mostly felt in the fingers as I kind of pins and needles type sensation similar to what you get when you sleep on 'yer arm wrong.
As far as feelings of general weirdness, I've actually had a lot of relief from that since moving out of Oak Ridge. I'm still only about twenty minutes away from there, though, so I haven't truly removed myself from the potential danger if anything went bad wrong with the nuclear facilities there, and yet I no longer have the strange feelings of being watched and the near constant feelings of something major impending.
So far as dreams go, I have always had a truly surreal dream life. Imagery and scenarios so fundamentally bizarre that anytime I've ever tried to tell my dreams to people I mostly just get pity reactions for all the nightmares. Yet I've never considered them as such. I don't wake up feeling nervous and I never feel particularly threatened in dreamtime. So, if something's trying to screw with that aspect of our consciousness then apparently my dream life is soooo strange and I have become so used to it that I would never notice. Small favors, I s'pose. :-)
I am anticipating getting Internet connectivity at the new homestead very soon and I expect my online presence will rebound with that. Until then, I'll try to quit lurking so damn much here at least. Y'all take care.

As I say, 'I ain't that smart'...but I'm not a total dumbass, either! :) I know what has worked in the past, but admittedly, TB's submission in .doc format threw me for a loop.
As indicated, many ideas for FSHOD have been given, ad nauseum ... but I just happen to be the masochist that took action...And not for glory or fame, but just because I like hanging with these fine people.
This format is simple and free...and I don't give a damn about Google and Wall Street...they're not bothering me right now, this is on their dime and my actions do not seem to profit them over-much. And inasmuch as another 'lurker' (who MAY be employed my a popular agency involved in space exploration) reports that FSHOD is a banned site (Fuck 'em) at work (along with TEM), then I can stand proudly knowing we must be doing SOMETHING right and say "It works!". :)
Do I expect FSHOD to change the world? NO!
Do I think we can force TPTB to divulge the truth about Roswell or Who Shot JFK? NO!
But if nothing else, FSHOD provides a small corner of the world where we, who can rarely communicate what we think and feel to the 'unwashed' and 'unread', can commune with others who feel the same and seek a common goal...however off-the-wall that may be.

You have a point there about it being way free-er than running your own server with a complicated CMS installation such as scoop, but such a thing would give us unprecedented collaborative ability. We could separate research efforts from stories about Christian mythology, and even create a live chat system to give people a place to discuss the events of the day or just hang out and pass around da e-joint, keeping discussion threads in story comments on-topic.
I have the technical know-how to make such a site happen, but do not currently have an appropriate server to run it from. Time is also an issue for me, although I suppose a person makes time for whatever they truly want.
As for Google and their paymasters not bothering us yet, that's true. However, Google is logging everything we say and every IP address we say it from, and cross-correlating it with our web searches, usenet postings, news-viewing preferences, shopping activity, and godforbid your email if you use their Gmail service. I know they're just trying to optimize their ad revenue by displaying ads more relevant to you as a personality profile, but I also know that once a company like Google or Microsoft becomes that big, it becomes the alphabet soup agencies' imperative to stick their cock in the backdoor like they did with Windows.

re: link underlines
I can't believe I missed this point before, but I was complaining about how links appear plain white in the main blog page (aka the permalink URL), not the comment popup window where they appear as normal underlined blue, hence the varied responses from other readers.
I tend to read and reload the permalink page (click on the entry's timestamp on the homepage) for the comments rather than the white-background popup window because I hate popup windows on principle.
I think it's important that the links appear underlined and in a different color than the main text even in the permalink URL.

BTW, NS try opening WMP then go to tools >> options and on the "performance" tab check the connection speed. Acording to MS, the player may set the wrong speed here (for i-net connection) and if so you can manually set it which should get vid back for i-net streams.

SSL’s comments (as well as other crew mates) on anger, I've felt for a while (one to two years) that feelings/emotions (good/evil, light/dark etc.) were polarizing. Like the gray areas were becoming less and less and the light/dark were becoming more potent. Maybe Ion or others can corroborate this but I too have noticed the intensity of both the anger and love/compassion have been greatly elevated. I have a feeling that these aren’t just emotions anymore but (maybe) tied closely to something of a "spiritual choice" that we Must be aware of since we might unknowingly "choose" an unwanted path. Like I said, just a feeling and I’m sure our ships Chaplin would have more to say on this ;).

i haven't had dreams either. Which actually is kinda weird. I have been doing something else. I never just fall asleep during the day but I have slept for 4 or 5 hours during the day 2 times in the past week. Not just a regular "sleep" tho. Almost in a coma but I awoke very fresh. No recollection of being tired or sleepy. Both times I woke up from a very peaceful place within. I have had some physical things too. Especially the head, neck and shoulders. Lower back too. But that all seems to be rippling thru now. It is hard to relay with words.

You shoulder story, I personally know very very well. Too long for here, but it ended my time in the Persian rug business. Had shoulder surgery and hand surgery, and significant neck problems. We all have stories about how we might be inclined to suffer in those areas, but truly I know 12 people who share the exact same description of "conditions" and phenomenon that you commented on so well.
Walk through it bro, no holding breath against the pain, no inwardly turning away or re.coiling. Just see and observe, don't necessarily identify with it or "colour it". We are processing big energy and any resistence magnifies as heat and burns. I recall, the left side of the body in Taoism is understood to be YIN(feminine) and the right side is YANG(masculine). I don't have full and total insight on this quality of our transformative process, but I do feel there is an aspect of growth adjustments to accomodate much greater ability to "conduct". We are now starting to play with "high voltage" and will get burned a little until we learn our spiritual hygiene and remain balanced and open. Kind of like the step up from regular flash light bulbs to the LED super brights. Real changes occur in the hard wiring to be a coin for the Divine to tansmute the whole of this limited human 'reality' through us. Thus our F-Shod opening declaration is more than just words on a page.(Fearlessly Seeking Honest Open Disclosure) It was a prayer of changes that initiates processes and invites incoming grace for real. Here it comes, as I have said before.

I checked my cookie settings and all was fine there...then I try to get to the site and it shows the blog in template form with all of these superimposed pictures of i have no idea what with this tiny green font.
So i left it alone and now its ok.

On that note I have to say that i too have had some exteremely vivid and out of the ordinary dreams too recently. For some reason, the ball lighning ex, even before I had mentioned him to TB has been making a nightly appearance. i am wondering if he has died or something. Its as though he is trying to contact me and I don't know why. in the dreams he is trying to show me something...but we never seem to get there. I don't know, its just weird and really disturbing and i have a dream hangover for the rest of the day. I also have been having very violent weather dreams. Tornado dreams are a recurring thing, but they never actually harm me...last night the tornado wiped out the whole house with me in it. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. I was kind of alarmed today to find this topic running...synchronicity.
Well, I need to go back and re read and make some comments.

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers, but Organite, if you have been reading and really following this blog you would know that we have had this debate raging for a few months now. We have functioned at this level really well with no ill effects. I'm sorry you dislike the format or whatever, but, if you don't like it...well, there is the door.
I just feel that you are entirely too new to be demanding changes in how we at FSHOD operate.
Now, that having been said, in the future, if someone wants to go off and open their own site to do what they wish...party on. but FSHOD is what it is, and i for one am happy with it.
I'm sorry if I'm being bitchy, but I really resent having outsiders come in and tell me what is good for this site when they have no clue as to the history we share.

I don't know what purpose "john" serves either, but derailment does seem to ensue whenever we look askance at his posts and reply. I am not immune to this, it's like someone said earlier, you see a report on the news. What is the report distracting you from that you should be paying serious attention to? If there is a purpose, it's probably for us to stay more alert and be aware of the posts that derail us from the topic.

I'm not comfort-able with the term sheeple as posted above (way above). I have used it a couple of times myself but am getting a conscience twinge hearing me say it. starshipconstellation agrees: That's why I said I wasn't immune. It's hard to resist sometimes getting caught up in the emotions some of his posts set off, but today on the other hand, I managed to refrain from cutting totally loose because it would have served no purpose in the end.
For my next post, I want to go back and re read the original topic of ball lightning and maybe also find some things on spontaneous human combustion and see if anyone has ever linked the two. Ball lightning has been seen in my family over the years on the old homestead for a branch of my dad's side of the family. So I want my next post to not be distracted by "john".

think you may be on to something here as well .. I heard many years ago that many will be 'awakened' prior to the major changes & their task is to help the others through the transition. Apologies for being hidden for so long. I have been dealing with numerous family issues.
Some may recall my cousin, an Iraq 2 soldier, fell ill with unexplained resistant pneumonia prior to the holidays. He succumbed to his illness and was laid to rest on 7 Jan 2006. Aged 23.
I firmly believe his illness was caused by phosphor exposure during the war or, as JasGrave333 said "something in the sands."
Anyhow, my family and I are convinced. It is something related to his tour of duty. The VA hospital physicians are not releasing any information to us.
To further insult us, because my cousin did not die on the field of battle nor can his death be conclusively proved it was caused by his duty, his family only gets 60% benefits (the minimum). If he died while active, then 100% benefits. What else about latent illnesses the Government is still denying?
I write because I AM PISSED!!! I am fumed at the naive, blind comments of "John."
Forgiveness? No way!! These people murder as a past time. It is their fun, pleasure, and elite hobby. Osama, Saddam, others? Our POTUS, is using this to ensure the stability of his administration, to keep the fear-factor alive, to hide his crimes and ineptness. So, in my eyes, POTUS is just as guilty. How many times more will he best the "war on terror" drum? I am nauseous.
Accept "Jesus" ... my cousin didn't. Does that mean his ultimate sacrifice "to God and country" leaves him in perpetual purgatory? I do not think so ... I believe even "Heaven" needs it's soldiers.
As a former enlisted (SGT), we fully accept and understand the consequences of war and our expected sacrifice. We fight with the intent of stopping evils, human atrocities, oppression, and wrong-doings. We fight to secure not only this Great Country but also the World. We are defenders. Sometimes, by Government actions, we look like the oppressors. A front-line trench soldier has no say. We simply obey orders. We are the pawns in the ultimate game of chess played by the rich elite (whom are exempt).
What no soldier likes is a blind deceitful liar. Politicians with ulterior motives, and scandalous cover-ups. We despise blind followings.
I know our fine men and women of the military believe in the purpose for which they fight. The primary objective is achieved. Iraq is liberated, quality of life is improving, new governance is being put in place. But, we are still there! Why, Mr. Bush, why??
It is oil? We influence the area so we influence the life-blood of current industry and, indirectly, the World. We are in control.
2,000+ brave fine men and women KIA and empty promises of coming home.
John, life is not simple. Life does not follow a kindergarten story book with happy endings. Tickle-Me Elmo fashion. Sesame Street and Power Puff Girls are not the norm but a rare exception.
John, you are a fresh 22, but do NOT think for yourself. My cousin was 23. At 19 he enlisted in the Army. At 22, he was one of 4 survivors of a mortar attack. 8 KIA. My cousin lost hearing in his left ear, had his left arm amputated, and is blind in his left eye. Yet, he still shot his gun. He valiantly tried to defend his squad until he collapsed from blood loss.
Six months in a military hospital in Germany rehabilitating before he came home only to die because of resistant pneumonia a few months later.
John, my cousin did not judge. He volunteered to join. He too was affected by 9/11. He did something about it. Wether you believe some bad guy desert dwellers did it or our own Government did it is pointless. He did what he did because he believed he could make a difference.
As the tears well in my eyes as I type this, John, I ask you to take the challenge to open your eyes, never accept what the television, Rush, Hannity, or anyone says. If you listen to the TV news media, Iraq is a boondoggle, a "quagmire." Not true. As you know, John, some good is there. Our brave men & women are doing good. They are doing their job as they were trained. It is the INTENT that is bad. The intent to occupy, to sacrifice innocent Iraqi people, our own brave soldiers for ...

John, sure my cousin may not go to "Heaven" based on your belief and statements, but shouldn't he be given consideration and a chance for his sacrifice ... which is more that you are doing to better this country.

Greg, strong words, I'm sorry for your loss, It's
a blasted thing what's happening. Glad to hear ur vent.
Part of what I find reprehensible of current is
the under-reporting of what these hospitals in
Europe are seeing. It's horrible, lives lost and
forever compromised.
Also, the VA for years has been "sterilizing" cause
of deaths. Not being compensated at the full rate
is completely wrong and should be over-turned, it
should be challenged. I especially agree with you
about the 'intent' I have a very big problem with
the intent that I see as being oil and hegemony and
the nwo via a bunch of thugs. That John and half
of americans don't see it realistically is costing
us dearly. Another underdeveloped part of the 'intent'
is how little I can find in any press reports about
an urgency to do everything possible to make Iraq
self sufficient. Think about it, we have how many
troops there now (80,000?-I am not sure total #s)
overseeing 25 million plus? How is that EVER going
to work?) What percentage of the total U.S. Iraq
war effort is going to re-training citizens and making
Iraq independent? How come I don't KNOW this info?
Having a dis-honest intent is making things worse
in this war effort. It trickles down into a more
messed up occupation, one that is underfinanced and
under organized in key areas. The truth is there
are waring factions inside of Iraq and on its borders
flowing in to the country, we are going to be losing
lives for years over there or decide to pull out.
My view is prop them up good (knowing they won't really
be ready) and get out SOON-with tremendous resources
going towards GETTING OUT SOON. The 'intent' of this
administration is not to get out soon, (if you accept
the NWO model) very sad.

Concerning purgatory and heaven...the God/Devine Being that I know not only opened "heaven's" doors to him, but most likely sent him the equivalent of a stretch limo to make sure that he got there in comfort.

I was going to reply tomorrow sometime, but Bryansail's post gave me some additional reactions and thoughts I want to express now lest I forget...
The "carrot" dangling in front of America regarding troop withdrawal, is another ploy to continue the misdirected focus (just a little longer, then they will be home). Home-coming dates are always postponed. We are in an environment where we (i.e., America) is deeply despised. There is no peace and their hatred runs deep. Those Iraqi people there do not despise the individual American, they resent the American leadership and what they symbolize (greed, gluttony, dishonesty, etc...). The unfortunate American gets beaten and burned in symbolic effigy.
I know most there appreciate the effort of the ground troops. My cousin often commented on that. There will always be individuals who transfer their disdain onto innocent and unsuspecting Americans when their disdain is toward the leadership.
I do not believe we will get out soon. To do so will relinquish control over the resources and our limited political influences. Because thge boogeyman terrorist will never be completely erradicated means there will always be fear and control and a perpetual presence? Do we kill them all? Is that the answer? Violence breeding more violence? More casualties? More loss of innocent men, women, and children? More loss of good brave soldiers?
I remember my cousin once saying: "The war will end eventually. It has to. We cannot be hand-holding forever. Someway, either political, economic, or ideally when Iraq is ready, we will leave." He believed his presence was helping to secure and stabilize the area.
Last note: VA hospitals are archaic dumps. I seriously would not send my dog there. Many VA hospitals I have seen are behind in technology and resources. They can't compare to a university hospital or private convalescence. I never could understand why America treats our brave warriors who are suffering from the ill effects of their sacrifice and commitment with such low regard. Are they no longer worth it now they are handicapped, paralyzed, or otherwise maimed by fighting a war entered by our Government leaders? They were regarded as heroes until they come home impaired -- now they are a "burden"? I just cannot understand. I am absolutely repulsed at that thought.
Speaking of dogs, to change doom and gloom topics, my cousin and I acquired two bull terriers from the same liter soon after his return home. We happened to come across a sign in one of our small town markets. The original owner was giving them away. So, we visited this person who turned out to be a senior person (80s or such) and used to breed dogs. After some long conversation, she felt comfortable giving us our pick of the liter. For whatever reason, this woman would not accept any payment ... just the promise of giving her pups a warm, loving, caring, stable home. We promised. My cousin and I are excited to find these bull terriers because it was the same dog General George S. Patton had. Both of us being former military ... you could understand why. These dogs are amazing smart. Not to crazy about the snow and cold however. Need to find a snowsuit and snow shoes for these guys.

Greg: At this point, there's absolutely nothing I can say that hasn't already been (curse my third shift job and lack of home internet connection), but FWIW I would like to extend my condolences. Losing family is tough and few things cut deeper. Just remember that nothing ever truly ends. I think the band Tool perhaps said it best:

Ms. T: Thank you for the book suggestion. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. I'm sure my prob could be a pinched nerve, but is it normal for that to last for 2+ months? I would have thought something like that would have worked itself out by now. Also a little disconcerting that I've never had any such issues before. Perhaps I should just chalk one up to getting older and move on. I'm still not gonna grow up, though, so there. ;-)
Ion: Is just a wee bit weird that my description of my experience is so spot on among others in your direct experience. In support of your thoughts, I have found that when I attempt to alleviate the discomfort via the usual means (stretching, massage, having my wife beat the hell out of me, etc.) there is usually fairly immediate relief but shortlived. On the other hand, giving up and deciding to just deal and get on as best I can seems to almost always result in much longer periods of relief. Of course, maintaining the discipline necessary to not go seeking immediate alleviation is the trick I have yet to fully master. I look forward to hearing from 'ya!
TB: I should have said this yesterday and I apologize, but I did really enjoy your blog article. I haven't commented further as the ball lightening phenomena is one area in which I'm fairly ignorant. I've heard about it off and on over the years, but it's always been one of those subjects in which the available information is SOO spurious, for the most part, that I just haven't been able to form an intelligent opinion of my own. I have been following the Arctic Beacon articles you've been linking as well and, while they've been covering allegations that are so heinous as to be dismissed out of hand by most folks, I find them to be creepily similar to the Conspiracy of Silence stuff I brought up way back when over in the original TEM blog. All's I can say is that the powers what be better hope that stuff NEVER gets validated as confirmation of the wholesale and wanton harming of children would absoutely open the door to my outright unleashing of the demon within on all involved and the hell with the consequences. I'm sure I am not alone in that sentiment, either.

Passing is always hard and in this case made more confusing in the quality of denial from the armed forces, that he was so faithfully serving. A shameful military in this respect.

May your cousin rest now and certainly be at peace. His gesture was of self sacrifice to something beyond himself, bigger and beyond than his own self serving life strategies. Religions' wayward distortions of the Path are meaningless.
He has transitioned, he was helped, he will move forward to what is next for him, he is in grace, it is WE, still here who must continue to work with the pains and the sorrows, remember Greg-death is not an end, it can even be a graduation, not a failing of life. Stay with your true feeling for him and you may find he is not ultimately gone, the inner relationship continues. That is evidenced by the tangibility of your story here that has brought him to our feeling regard now. So we now reflect on him in "reception" of your pain and convey compassion to him and you in "response". Thats much more real than standard religion's exclusionary babble and man-contrived dogmatic drivel.

Yes, Jesus DOES know His own. The people who recieved Him, asked His Forgiveness, are the ones going to Heaven. You can't earn your way in. If getting to Heaven was based on good deeds, then yes, Greg's cousin would most likely (I say most likely, because I'm not entirely sure of the hypothetical criteria for "earning" your way into Heaven) go to Heaven, but it's not. God made it simple; put your faith in Jesus, recieve His Gift of Salvation, let Him live in you, that's all. It'd actually be HARDER to earn your way into Heaven. God wants us to be with Him, so He made it easy. We're here to "Fearlessly Seek Honest Open Disclosure", well, here I am, "Fearlessly", "Honestly", "Openly", "Disclosing" the Truth to you. My mom suggested last night that maybe my reason for being here is that God wants me here to spread the Good News. I never thought about it that way. This doesn't mean that every post from me will be a sermon, but it DOES mean that when you state something like "you can earn your way into Heaven", I'm here to say to you that you CAN'T do that. Whether you listen or not is completely up to you. Regarding those verses in Matthew, the sheep and the goats story, I can understand why you think that you can earn your way to Heaven if those are the ONLY verses you read...

I've been wondering if their is any construction work occurring on the moon. It just looks different to me. Tonight should be clear since the nor'easter went through, although it sounds like they are already up there spraying away. I will wait and see.

Politically, although your brother's death was directly attributable to being wounded in battle (IMHO), his death will not be listed as a casualty of war.
