Drip Drip Drip...or the absence of it.

Alien Life More Likely on ‘Dune’ Planets
summary: A new study finds that desert worlds -- like the planet Arrakis in the sci-fi classic "Dune" -- might be the more common type of habitable planet in the galaxy, rather than watery planets such as Earth.

Fog on Mars......means? ;)

Nice blog topic and pic ION, seems like this has been known for over 30 years ;-)
How about a mosaic composed of 102 Viking Orbiter images of Mars showing clouds all over.
Here is another Viking image showing the Martian atmosphere, kinda puts a smile on your face ;-)
Wow, sixth comet in just nine months
Getting kind of busy in the neighborhood these days eh? ;) ...and looky that 'new' Kreutz Sungrazers galore.
“But they (the small ones) are very useful to the study of the dynamics of orbits of comets, their disintegration process and perturbations from giant planets,” he added.
“Actually, what we are seeing now in the form of Kreutz Comets is the debris or left-overs of very large comets which come in the vicinity of our solar system once in a few centuries. “From the orbits of some of the Kreutz Comets, it is estimated that one such huge comet was seen in 1106, then in 1882 and last in 1965,” Deshmukh, 37, explained.
Besides, some short period comets are also observed using Solar & Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) data, which help scientists understand their orbital dynamics and rate of erosion each time they visit our solar vicinity.
Tks meangreen.....good stuff.
SO curious, no one has really put it all together. As you pointed out 30+years and enough trickled disclosure, an still the mainstream doesn't wonder out loud, where the white fluffy clouds come from or the fog in Valles Marinaris, or the 'seasonal' methane appearing in the same region repeatly(ie biological).
Even the disclosure of the Summer temperature at the equator being 20C-68F didn't peek anyone to further consider that maybe for a place with atmosphere, clouds, fog, running water might equal not only life but a habitable domain?? :)

“You are looking in the 'world' for That Which Is Where you Stand. Narcissus is looking in the pond desiring for That Which he already Is -- Consciousness Itself. All That is Attractive, all That is Beautiful, all That is Full, you see, all That is Satisfactory, all That is constant, not threatened, all That is Love Bliss, all That is Radiant Is Always Already the Case. It is presumed to be in klik klak, but that is a false superimposition of the feeling of your own Nature -- an illusion generated by the heart’s not noticing its own Nature and projecting itself into the domain of changes. Understand this, notice this -- then the illusion of ‘Narcissus’, and all the search built on it, disappears. It is not struggled with. The illusion is gone. And there is no longer the pursuit of attention and result, but the Native Stand Prior to attention.” © 2011 ASA (http://www.adidam.org/)

“You are looking to get Enlightened here, but you do not grasp the Nature of Reality. Reality is not That within Which there is a concern for ‘self’, or a concern for your ‘self’ getting Enlightened. You have to understand. It is this understanding, this realization, this breaking out of this pattern of 'self' presumption that is Enlightenment. Reality does not take into account your separateness. You do -- because it is your own illusion, it is your action. Reality Itself -- I Myself, It Itself, That Itself -- does not take separateness into account. It Is -- I Am -- Non ‘different’. ‘Difference’ is your noticing, it is your presumption, it is your act, within your own disposition, but it does not change Reality Itself. To Be One with Reality Itself means that you have utterly no concern for a ‘self’, no existence as a ‘self’.” © 2011 ASA (http://www.adidam.org/)

Well, from Swords picture of the fog on Mars, comes a new link I found today that takes the drip drip drip to a new trickle of truth.
Mars Express finds water supersaturation in the Martian atmosphere
Supersaturation is a specific word they have chosen. It is kind of like when they used the word ubiquitous to describe the water found on the Moon.
Here is the key excerpt I noticed: SPICAM data have revealed that supersaturation occurs frequently in the middle atmosphere - at altitudes of up to 50 km above the surface - during the aphelion season, the period when Mars is near its farthest point from the Sun.
Extremely high levels of supersaturation were found on Mars, up to 10 times greater than those found on Earth. Clearly, there is much more water vapour in the upper Martian atmosphere than anyone ever imagined. It seems that previous models have greatly underestimated the quantities of water vapour at heights of 20-50 km, with as much as 10 to 100 times more water than expected at this altitude.
