50 Easy Questions
299 comments - Click for BlogWell, the mid-term election season is upon us. Of course, we know the incumbents have been campaigning for a long time. I don't want anyone to think that I consider the Democrats to be the force that restores America to what it SHOULD be, but since it's the Republicans who have been in power for so long, and have fouled things up so much, I think that it's time to run the scoundrels out of town and elect a new bunch of scoundrels (I think that was how Heinlein put it!)
Anyway, this is going around the net right now, not sure if you've seen it. But this may be a method of getting the 'unwashed' to examine themselve, and the scoundrels they've put their faith in.
Regardless, enjoy these...and USE them!
50 Easy Questions to Ask Any Republican
Anyone can ask tough, intricate, confrontational questions.
But all that ever does is start an argument, and it gets people nowhere.
On the other hand, these are...well, easy.
These are friendly questions.
These are questions that allow another person to actually explain their thoughts, and explain fully.
And to do so in as comfortable, as simple a way as possible.
Without feeling attacked.
Without feeling pressure.
Without feeling no one cares what they have to say.
Friendly.
Easy.
Print them out, carry them around in your pocket, and the next time someone begins quoting from a Republican talking points memo, take the list out and ask.

In closing, some quotes from the Master, Robert Heinlein:
It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so...
There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.

Hey, baby...the things you post are never off topic!
Just corrected my typos and made the questions Bold for a better look.
Now that's interesting about the backward sunspot!
Those are 50 loaded for bear questions! Love it! I'd like to see a mainstream reporter actually have to the guts to ask them.
Maybe Jon Stewart or the other one whose name I just blanked out on who gave Bush hell at the National Press Club dinner not so long ago. The Mr. Goodwrench Guy could ask those questions.
SSC, SK
The pathetic thing is that the shrub seems oblivious to the fire in the wagon and the broken wheels and continues to spout his same old tired lines...AKA the Fear Factor. Most people have written him off. The unfortunate thing is they are turning into "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". The next time we really have a bonified disaster nobody is going to know whether it's just more BS or the real thing.
SK,
As far as knowing what to believe. If recent revelations are true, then the American people were duped into WWII. Maybe nothing changes. But it is my contention that the worst nightmare for those trying to dupe us now is this medium we using right here. Never before have so many unconnected people been able to communicate so easily and exchange information and ideas. Let's hope they can't destroy this.
To Voyager 1 and her sister vessels, I hoist my drink in salute!
mac, as badly as things are falling apart with the shrub, he still has some fellow delusional souls who believe his crap and I doubt any of them spend much time on the internet, but do spend a lot of time with an AM radio. As important as the internet is, I think there needs to be an effort to take back AM radio which is still a very effective if quaint way to reach a lot of people.
For now, the shrub has a few "regular joes" on the wagon with him who don't seem to notice the wobbly burning wagon either. However, there will come a point when even these singularly dense people will feel the burn.
SSC,
I agree with the AM radio idea. It used to be that the dialog originated locally. With the mega stations that has gone by the board at least at night. After about 7 PM here it's all syndicated stuff like C2C. Too bad C2C has degenerated into fluff and nonsense for the most part.
The regular Joes will wake up when they figure out they were duped by the shrub and his coporate cronies. A lot of small business people bought his BS and are slowly finding out it was a scam to get elected. The Repulicans had a chance to have the common people on their side, but chose to stick it to them instead. My state (RI) started out Republican, but in the 20's the party was corrupt and rich, once they were put out of power the people here never gave them a chance to get back in. It's almost a religion here to vote Democrat. They have now gone a little crazy and the corruption is being uncovered to their detriment. My opinion is that they are both different sides of the same coin.
Hi Ms T.
Hope you're well
Mac,
Ever read 'The Man Called Intrepid" by William Stephenson?
Good stuff, been on the shelf for at least 40 years and pretty much details much of went on behind the scened with FDR and Churchill...by the guy who was their go between.
And, fer sure, FDR was all for the US getting into WWII. Face it, it was the only way Hitler was gonna be beaten.
Were the American people duped into going to war (WWII). A good case can be made for that.
Was it the unilateral, pre-emptive, no-real-excuse-for-going-to-war conflict that Iraq is? NO, it was the real deal, imho.
Boh,
QUESTION:
Are there any more Voyager-like missions in progress or on the drawing board?
I'm now wondering why we didn't do follow-up missions.
If we built a new model of Voyager, would it be able to fly faster/last longer?
Mac,
Let me qualify me 'real deal' statement. I'm not so sure that the cause of WWII was 'Evil', as Bill Bennet was expounding on his AM radio show reaching millions this morning...You cannot forget that Hitler would have fizzled out right quickly had it not been for the corporate power that put their quid on Adolph, knowing that their profits were will assured. Arms, training, political power needs money...and just like today, Big Bidness supplied it to Hitler in spades.
And to think that I have a Krupp cappucino machine...(*Sunking hangs head in shame*)

Dammit, you did it again SSC! I COMPLETELY agree. I can remember as a kid making fun of my Mom b/c she listened to totally square WSM country AM not the uber cool, (Ian Pundits old satation WKDF) rockin FM.
Now my kids make fun of me. i tell than while Sirius and all that are bitchin and all, uh, good old AM never let me down in a crunch. There is NOTHING wrong with a plan B that WORKS and works well.

Yeah, but you have an awsome cup of cappucino. You gotta pick your battles in life SK, and the better maker won.
small price to pay n'est pas???
Well, Boh, I knew my memory had failed me, but jeeez....that was not that long ago.
Too bad we didn't lanch these types of craft in the 80's, then the 90's, etc.
And yes, I do remember how we discussed and read about how much faster NH was.
Oh well....a dumb question....but not.
I think it's fascinating to learn about the heliophase, etc. I had never heard, until last year or so, about this, about the schock wave that our solar system makes moving about in space. I can then only assume there is a galaxo-phase moving in front of our galaxy. I would like to read more about this subject, but don't know where to go...doesn't seem to be so much material out there.
ah...wrong word...ot's heliopause and heliosheath.
ok, Boh....here's another.
The heliopause is the boundary with the interstellar meduim. If there is a galaxo-pause, is there an inter-galactic medium? And, if so, is it the same stuff as the interstellar variety?
Hi all...
50 answers to 50 questions...
1. He liberated the Iraqis from Saddam's tyranny, stood up to evil, gave tax cuts, boosted the
economy, captured Saddam, appointed judges to the Supreme Court who wouldn't legeslate from the
bench, and has made this country safer.
2. Yes
3. The Iraqis have said that they want to take over by the end of the year, and I hope they do.
4. I think Bush could've done a better job, but it's not all his fault.
5. I think it's going ok.
6. I don't know, because I wasn't at the meeting. However, I would assume that a good part of
their goal was to benefit consumers.
7. Yes
8. I think that they're personally responsible for keeping America safer.
9. I don't know, I didn't really follow that part of the 2k4 election.
10. Sure, why not?
11. Well, I wasn't aware until I read the question.
12. No
13. No, but I really don't know any gay people.
14. Both, but that's not surprising, because almost every President unites some people and
divides others.
15. The liberal media (CNN, MSNBC, "See-BS").
16. First off, they're not interested in me. I have a friend at church who works for the NSA, and
I asked him about that. He told me that they're too busy going after the bad guys to listen in on
me. I've got nothing to worry about, because even if they DID collect stuff on me, there's
nothing there that would interest them.
17. I don't have a bank account. I still live at home.
18. I don't believe in sex before marriage.
19. If this question is related to #18, see above.
20. HECK YEAH!
21. Most of the illegals come through Mexico.
22. Yes
23. Depends if it's a public place or the middle of nowhere. But it's a pointless question, since
the only alcohol I drink is Communion wine, and I don't have (nor want) a gun.
24. If they were, then it's the longest wedding I've heard of.
25. No, not a covert agent. But Valerie Plame wasn't covert.
26. A lot.
27. Because my last name's not Kerry.
28. Syria
29. In a cave somewhere on the Afghani-Pakisatni border.
30. No, but I'm not that good at economics.
31. Yes, because, at the time, those programs were needed. Today, however, some of those programs
(like Social Security and Medicare), might be in need of an upgrade. On the flip side, programs
like women's suffrage, rural electrification, child labor laws, minimum wages and the 40-hour
work week are good. One important note, the liberals of the past had more honor, patriotism, and
decency than most liberals today.
32. Reagan ('nuff said), helping to bring down the USSR, tax cuts, Fox News Channel, Ann
Coulter's books, changing the face of talk radio, kicking terrorist butt, exposing the left for
what they are, bringing decency back to the Supreme Court, and keeping America safe.
33. Yes
34. I used to, during the Clinton years, before I listened to Rush, but not anymore.
35. I don't even know what sane guest would stay at a wedding for 3 years. It doesn't take that
long to get married. I've been to 2 weddings, and they weren't that long.
36. Zarqawi's death is a serious blow to the terrorists.
37. Not until I read the question.
38. I don't drink (except Communion wine). But if he wanted to have a soda, or a glass of water,
then sure.
39. Stay.
40. See #38
41. I don't know that much about him to make a descision.
42. Yes
43. I'm not sure what "nation-building" is.
44. I don't know, however long he wanted, I guess.
45. I didn't know that that happened, but it'd depend on how useful the rifles were.
46. Here's what I think about torture. If we know that a guy knows where an attack's gonna be,
but he won't talk, and time's running out, then hook up the jumper cables and start the "shock"
and "AAHHHHHH!!!!". It shoudn't be done by a sadist, and when the guy talks, stop the torture.
47. It's getting there. You can't get rid of a terrorist organization overnight without using a
nuke.
48. That's one of the jobs of the VP. If, using the heartbeat example, the President had a fatal
heart attack, then Dick Cheney would be President.
49. First off, why, unless it's a Mafia wedding, would guests start killing each other? As to the
question, no, because I don't need, nor want, to see the caskets.
50. I don't know, because I've never met him.
To Voyager reaching 100 AUs, I say this. "Happy traaiiillls, tooo yoou" (I think that's from a song)...
John
Wow, that's "cool" about that backward sunspot. And I heard about the 3 new planets on the radio...
John
Great post, those 50 questions !
Thanx !!!
I was going to semi-sarcastically suggest John answer the 50 questions but I see there is no need for that. Never mind.
Questions for Bohemia:
What will Voyager do in terms of speed once the craft is in true interstellar space? How bad is the lag time in communications between NASA and Voyager? Will they be able to recieve data when the craft is in true interstellar space? Since Voyager can't rely on its solar panels anymore can the sensors draw power from another source and transmit data without draining propulsion? Or is the ship basically coasting now?
Forgive my ignorance, I'm just curious since in my lifetime at least one spacecraft is truly leaving our solar system. Too bad its unmanned and not capable of warp speed but it's still exciting nonetheless.

Fool,
I agree, mostly. Actually, I think the seeds (of WW2) were sown when the young Hitler was spurned from the art school in Vienna.
<
In that case, WW2 was my fault. In a past life, I was the admissions secretary (female) who rejected little Adolph from that art school, way back then.

This is a nice place to come for the occassional ROTFLMAO!
Good questions and thanks for the new post SK. I'm thinking that
the current shit coming down the pipe is getting ramrodded through by
both parties pretty equally but I defineately like the idea of giving
that list to anyone who is a hardline republican.
Thanks for all the links bohemia, looks like I visited within time to catch your
newest posts.
Here's a few that I thought might be relevent here.
Here Colbert meets with Billy Kristal Faux news guy who is a proud PNAC member.
Colbert came up absolutely huge at the National Press Club, but here though he
makes some digs he does NOT go nearly hard enough at Kristasshole. It is worth a look,
certainly some odd energy here. Colbert
and Kristoff square off
This is good John Bolton PNAC pinhead DOES get his head held to the fire,
very unfortunate that his answer is not complete in this clip.
Bolton gets asked a real
question for once, but his dodge answer gets chopped off
Then there's this, I'm still in shock at the damn thing. I kinda got on this
thread from Darkwood's post about the national I.D. card.
This
is a jazzy little video about sheeple, and some cool sheep snips, clips and shears IT
SHOULD NOT BE MISSED BY ANY F_SHODDERS !
(((Ericswan))), the idea that the towers were done in by a tesla death ray is interesting. I think
that some of the phone calls (more released today) need to be looked at closely. I heard
a really chilling phone call today on NPR, of a woman on her cell over and over saying how
hot she was. I have heard another call from a guy several floors ABOVE where the planes hit
and guess what, he was complaining of not being able to breathe AND being really hot, in
that chilling call you can hear him as scream as the towers begin their near free fall. In the
case of these types of molecular changes the people inside the towers would be cooking
and it would not be anywhere near the same rate as the metal structures would be effected.
The evidence for that can be seen w/ effects of brown's gas and some of the strange stuff
that Hutchinson has been seeing. I think your idea is perhaps right on, although I think
that thermite was also used as per what the byu professor has found in his samples. I think
that the sulfurization and other things found from the samples may also fit what you are
saying which is an amazing possibility.
The woman that asks John Bolton about the U.S. being
terrorists is a hero, much like Colbert in his Washington
Dinner bit.
Ericswan, I'm going to take a look at medical conditions
of 911 survivors who were in the towers and at more of those
cell phone calls recorded right before the buildings dropped,
which we know was artwork according to those in the demolition
field. It was an amazing piece of work, the way those towers
dropped, and it was done so well that the majority of demolition
companies could not have done it according to one industry
expert.
Is there anyone out there in FSHOD-land that can convert a *.wav file into an *.mpg file ?
I've downloaded a program that does it - but it's restricted - it won't let me e-mail it.
The file (an answering machine message) is 7MB as a wav file and 680kb as an mpg.
My wife wants to be able to e-mail it.
Hi CC, Can you change the file settings for either the wav. file or
the mpg file? I think if you go into properties and un-select
one of those boxes to unprotect it.
If that doesn't do it check out this vid. instead.
Denver Airport- s'posedly has multiple underground

The comments below this phoenix lights clips (and some of the others)
are great. Thousands of peops saw these lights. It was a GINORMOUS
object. 'If you took a newspaper opened it up all the way and held
it at arms length, this object would be visible outside of the Newpaper.
Thousands of eyewitnesses. The govt. sent up flares to show everyone
that is all it was. The witnesses of this event know that they did
not see flares. Also the lights do not match known earthly lights,
the frequency is different the lights were different. A true mystery.
Looking at the comments someone mentioned that the phoenix lights
appeared during the hale bopp fly by. ... hmmmmmmm.....
absolutely mammoth, solid form (it blocked out stars) seen moving and
outside of phoenix during the hale bopp flyby, a true mystery
I'll be reading here everyone, keep up the great work.
I will not be posting here again untill I have the Edwin Gray

Bryansail assembling an over unity device right NOW.
Bryansail,
The sheeple video was awesome! I'll definitely be posting that over at my blog, as well.
Good luck on your over unity device. I, and I'm sure most here, are rooting for you all the way on it.

The swastika at Denver Airport
According to this distance calculator,
Denver
6887 miles (11084 km) (5985 nautical miles)
Initial heading from Jerusalem to Denver: north-northwest (330.0 degrees)
Initial heading from Denver to Jerusalem: north-northeast (33.5 degrees)
11084 is remarkably close to 11,111km.
111 is a sacred number :
1776 is divisible by 111 ...
range circles on the flat earth go 111 - 222 - 333,
so that number jumps out at me.
Just for comparison,
San Diego
7638 miles (12292 km) (6637 nautical miles)
Initial heading from Jerusalem to San Diego: north-northwest (335.5 degrees)
Initial heading from San Diego to Jerusalem: north-northeast (24.8 degrees)
San Diego is on the same bearing line as the Round Church on the Island of Bornholm.
I would guess just by looking at the map on my wall, that
the swastika in San Diego is aligned to the old German border on the Baltic Sea (pre 1945)
and
the swastika at Denver is aligned to the new (East) German border on the Baltic Sea (post 1945)
Now, what's so special about the new Eastern border ?
It's at Peenemunde ...
where Werner von Braun was building rockets.
Peenemunde appears to be closer to being on the same bearing line as Mount Palomar (take that T'Zemt)
Assuming Pennemunde to be 54*08'N and 13*46'E (near the border with Poland)
1873 miles (3014 km) (1627 nautical miles)
Initial heading from Jerusalem to 54:08:00N 13:46:00E: north-northwest (331.8 degrees)
Initial heading from 54:08:00N 13:46:00E to Jerusalem: southeast (136.8 degrees)
I still think the center of landmass - Jerusalem - is a once and future military high-ground
Denver is a different sort of high ground (the terre haute kind of physical high ground)
but it's food for thought anyway :-)
Those numbers are off by 270*.
Bearing values should be number of degrees from the West Pole Line (zero=West from Jerusalem)
So, 330* is actually 63* in my data - and it didn't arouse my curiosity.
If we take the advice of the ancients and declare the Pillars of Hercules to be Zero
subtract 19.5*.
Doing so makes London go from 49.5* to 30.0* .... that sort of thing.
Hey Bryansail.. sort of fits in with the vaporization or instant combustion that was referred to in Alternative 3. The tape I listened to has Ms. Doi in a rather long conversation suddenly saying that she is burning up and then the call terminates within a second of that comment. It would have been useful to know the actual time of that call and compare that with the time it would have taken for the building to "heat up" and come down.
The reason I don't like the thermite conspiracy is 1. why remove all the metal to China when only a small amount of it would have been affected by Thermite.
2. The main reason I don't like the thermite theory is that it is a conspiracy inside a conspiracy. A riddle inside a conundrum. It's the old science of ee versus zpe which is like a pinball game. Score points if you see the conspiracy as an inside job but "Tilt" if you see an inside job with "above Top Secret tech".
Again, the key here is the absolute pulverization of nearly everything in the building. The metal would demolecularize and remolecularize but the concrete would vibrate into powder. You might recall that Tesla's fire balls were experiments using excited amplitude with long wave amplitude forced into short waves. I don't know where Tesla went with that but he indicated that the equipment required to bring down a building would fit in his hand. As I recall, he stopped the experiment by smashing the equipment with a hammer.
Hi all...
I heard a few years ago that Pioneer was still transmitting. I'm always amazed at the durability of these probes. When NASA builds something, they build it to last...

Since we're slinging videos, here's one from one of Goro's posts that just really impressed the hell outta me because of it's message.
This should be the 51st question!
'Where Is The Love' - Music Video
BLACK EYED PEAS LYRICS
"Where Is The Love?"
What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)

bohemia,
Thanks for the answers to my Voyager questions! You have a great way of putting complex things into understandable terms that I really appreciate.
Boh,
Let me try to re-state my question.
We know that for any given solar system, there is something called the heliopause and heliosheath.
Now, let's say God was to strike John with a bolt of lightning and we determined that, for the protection of the rest of us, his ashes and glasses needed to be stuffed inside a Super-Voyager and extricated from the galaxy...rapidly.
OK, Super-Voyager has survived the passage thru the heliosheath and heliopause. Billions and Billions (a la Carl Sagan) of days later, the ashes of John (which despite distance and time are still unbelievably transmitting The Quotations of Chairman Hannity back to a stunned and demoralized Earth, obviously the work of an implanted Karl Rove memory card) and the S-V are about to leave the galaxy.
As there was the heliosheath and heliopause for a solar system, is there an analogous 'structure' associated on the galactic scale?
As there is an interstellar medium between solar systems, is there an 'intergalactic medium' between galaxies?
If so, would there be any difference between the stuff that makes up the interstellar medium and that of the 'intergalactic medium'?
Is there any way for us at this time to even KNOW if there are any differences?
Announcer: Return next week for a new episode of "Ashes, Ashes We All Fall Down" titled "The Ashes in the 7 Levels of Hell!!
Synopsis: The Ashes of John, being expelled from galaxy to galaxy, has a glancing impact with the MicroMeteoroid of Truth, which sets Super-V spinning off course to get sucked thro a black hole and cast into another dimension...which turns out to be Hell. Rove, Falwell, Robertson, Ken Melman, Nancy Reagan, Buck Owens, the entire Bush family and Ken Lay are all there, being served hot drinks by Adolph Hitler. Enjoy the antics as the Devil (who, like God, is a female) (played by Ann Coulter) becomes frustrated when all the demons and imps, thoroughly fed up with the Quotations of Chariman Hannity, go on strike and all the workings of Hell cease. This causes a overload of prayer requests to God because the Christians on Earth are upset because the rate of those converting from Cruiseism (new major world religion based on the wisdom and teachings of His Holininess Tom Cruise) to Christianity has dropped to zero...if Hell's not working, Where's the Fear? Finally God must intervene...for the 2nd time!
Scarlet,
Oh...I wasn't mad at ya about the Krupp thing...just thought you didn't know about Krupp!

Boh,
Well, I kinda figured the questions were complex and fraught with debate and lack of first-hand, no-doubt-about-it data. Yeah, and there's that ever-present dark matter and EM debate again.
But what about the galactic version of the heliopause? IS there one? I know the solar system is rotating and moving 'linearally' (?) through space with the termination shock leading the way. Is the galaxy moving and rotating? And is there a galactic termination shock/heliophase thingie? Or Not!?!

Again, the key here is the absolute pulverization of nearly everything in the building. The metal would demolecularize and remolecularize but the concrete would vibrate into powder.
------------------------
Ericswan, a great original insight into that spectacular collapse.
Not all the evidence was lost though. The bodies recovered from the buildings should have had some very interesting molecular change.
Would the bodies have instantaneous disintegrated into clumps / pieces a la the broken teleporter on Startrek?
The question is: at which radiation 'point' would the concrete and metal weaken / lose their molecular bond for an instant, vis-a-vis human bodies.
If the bodies were "intact" upon recovery, then we can assume that the 'point of disintegration' for steel and concrete is lower than flesh.
Alas, all decomposed now.

(how did you miss *this* one, Boh! LOL)
Going Blind, eh? Tis been the wages of sin for many years, my son. Say 10 Hail Marys and I'll give you a discount on the Acme Palm Shaver at the next Building Fund Flea Market. Now, go in peace.
If it did, I didn't get the memo/email. Until then, it's bsuiness as usual, bub!
I have no idea, Boh. I wasn't being THAT specific. I was just wondering about things on a galactic level. Could not 'easily' find any resouces on the internet, e.g. The Galaxy For Dummies.
If the galaxy is rotating, what makes it do so, and does that same force make the Universe rotate?
Hmmm...now I see the ramifications of your question somewhat better. The galaxy may be rotating, but it's also moving in some kind of line, isn't it? Must be if data says the Universe is expanding.
I am waaaaay outta my league here. But quite interested.
My doctor has been REALLY pushing the viagra - he says he's got tons of free samples. Tells me I'm the target group.
He joked it was a social experiment - I joked that they're looking for free guinea pigs for a study about side-effects.

Boh, SK,
I'm in waaaay over my head with the things that Boh is expounding on, but pondering the scale of it all truly puts our existence in perspective. The earth is but a piece of dust in just the galaxy not to mention the universe.
SK,
Hard to keep up with all that is on this blog. I've never read that book, but will look it up. Read a lot of history on WWII and others such as the Revolution etc,and am fascinated by ancient Rome. Many paralels with the road we are going down.
A couple of the leaders of Rome insisted on being made the supreme ruler to 'protect' the intersts of Rome. Sound familiar. The shrub just assumed the power, and didn't even bother to try to conive his way to it.
Rome was also constantly at war and tried to bring their brand of 'democracy' to the world, at the point of a sword. Nothing much changes.
I liked the Black Eyed Peas MV.
Lots of truth there. The solution is simple, but one has to step outside oneself to implement it.
SSC.. I wasn't aware there were any bodies to autopsy. If there were, I'm sure they were "murdered" by falling debris or asphixiated in the cloud of dust and not on one of the floors in the building.
Boh and Sunking..enjoying the show..I see the universe as a bundle of fibre optics that allows e or m or g to spiral around each other and moving in a super string in both directions. The sum of which is zero=infinity=God. When we "observe" galaxies or other galaxies, our technology or tools to make observations, only work in the one dimension they are built to observe. Red shifting will always be in that spectrum and gamma sprite investigations etc. etc. but we just have the one tool that shoots around the corner and that is our brain. Stifle it and you get nadda.
Mac,
You and I sound a lot alike at least in what we read and study.
Glad you liked the vid.
Boh,
Thanks, most interesting. I'm sure I have a thousand questions that can never be answered. I just thought the bit about heliophase and such was fascinating...stuff that was like "DUH!" when I read about it...I had never thought about it before, but it made plenty sense as soon as I read it.
So if the universe is expanding, I would almost expect there to be a shcok wave at the edge....but what could it possibly be shocking? oooooh....my head hurtz! :)
thanks,pal!
ericswan, what are you talking about? I've said nothing about bodies to autopsy. You are referring to a post Other Side of the Pacific made.
Hi all...
Sunking, that "The Ashes in the 7 Levels of Hell!!" thing was funny...
John
Here's a question that 371 Bohemia might be able to answer ...
If we have this thing called precession - and the Earth was knocked off its Axis ...
Can we REALLY pretend to know where the stars were in 3,000BC or 10,500BC ?
i shudder to think about it much but we, here are faced with one of the toughest nuts to crack but the minutemen have come to the rescue just in the nick of time. I'm referring to John of course. "We" could solve this problem if we could "fathom the depths" of the problem. ORCINUS IS THE KEY TO THAT UNDERSTANDING.

Boh may be coming around to at least considering electro-magnetic universe at least a teensy weensy little bit but to go out whole hog with the "theory" you have to recognize that our planet is inundated with energy that changes us and the planet with every pulse that moves over, through and in the empty spaces. For example the molecular changes to the planet which brought iron to this planet in the billions of years ago or irridium in the millions of years ago or beryillium in the thousands of years ago. Another way to look at it is that these cosmic pulses washing over the universe are bringing yet one more element in the periodic table by virtue of adding mass to already existing mass. It takes time to create a terrestrial planet from a gas planet when the changes are one proton at a time but then life has always been like that anyway.
Was the planet knocked off it's axis or was the planet simply accreting new electro-magnetic characteristics?
Our own moon is one of the clues as to the nature of the energy washing over our galaxy. If the energy didn't go out to an "edge" and come back, the moon couldn't retain it's sphere. The impact craters are on all the observable surfaces another indicator that the universe is a contained system. Our measuring systems generally show the universe moving in one direction but this is a measurement made in one dimension. We don't have the tools or at least, we do not acknowledge we have the tools to see that energy backwashing or moving in the opposite direction but direction in one dimension is irrelevant in others. Energy is neither created or destroyed. More evidence of a closed system.
Accretion from a particular direction might push the planet over ? Or make it lean over ?
Earth is a ship that doesn't know the depth of the ocean it's floating in
because the sailors haven't figured out how to measure that next dimension (yet) ?
The Earth is expanding and the evidence is that it was tidally locked onto something in the past.
Why is the Moon the same density as the Saturn system ?
and anthropologically ...
If we got our collective lights punched out by a rival civilization ...
at what point would they return ?

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Princeton Eggs ... AMEN
THE MUNDANE EGG.
WHENCE this universal symbol? The Egg was incorporated as a sacred sign in the cosmogony of every people on the Earth, and was revered both on account of its form and its inner mystery. From the earliest mental conceptions of man, it was known as that which represented most successfully the origin and secret of being. The gradual development of the imperceptible germ within the closed shell; the inward working, without any apparent outward interference of force, which from a latent nothing produced an active something, needing nought save heat; and which, having gradually evolved into a concrete, living creature, broke its shell, appearing to the outward senses of all a self-generated, and self-created being -- must have been a standing miracle from the beginning.
The secret teaching explains the reason for this reverence by the Symbolism of the prehistoric races. The "First Cause" had no name in the beginnings. Later it was pictured in the fancy of the thinkers as an ever invisible, mysterious Bird that dropped an Egg into Chaos, which Egg becomes the Universe. Hence Brahm was called Kalahansa, "the swan in (Space and) Time." He became the "Swan of Eternity," who lays at the beginning of each Mahamanvantara a "Golden Egg." It typifies the great Circle, or O, itself a symbol for the universe and its spherical bodies.

I can't believe no one has commented on this ruling about the NSA spying. Thank GOD someone finally wasn't gonna be bullied by the gov't and the Bush agenda anymore.
Cam some one explain this quote for me: its from an AP report i believe.
"The government argued that the program is well within the president's authority but said proving that would require revealing state secrets.
WHAT "STATE SECRET" GIVES THE PRESIDENT AUTHORITY TO DO THIS?
I certianly don't recall the Constitution to be a secret...
What am i missing here?
scarletm,
Okay, I didn't comment, but I did post my own blog post about it.
While I admire the fact that the presiding judge put the smack down on the whole "state secret privilege" bs, I expect this is just gonna stay tied up in the court system all the way up to the Supreme Court which we all know has been well padded out by Shrub. I suppose we will know how serious this judge is when she decides on whether or not to approve the motion to stay that shut down order pending the appeal.
The state secret privilege referenced has to do with the governments ability to refuse to disclose, or even admit to, information classified as secret and above to protect the interest of "national security" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). The judge's decision was that this privilege did not apply to this case as so much information has already been made public regarding the program that it can hardly be considered a secret anymore.
But again, whether we can actually look to this as some small victory will depend on whether or not that order to stop will stand or is just stayed pending an appeal as that will just lend itself to tying the case up indefinitely as it works it's way to the Supreme Court where it will likely go just the way Shrubbie wants it.
Of course, I'm no legal expert so I could have that completely wrong. I will certainly defer to anyone more knowledgable in the field who would care to comment.
DarkWood
Hummmm just heard the firs rumbling of that Impeach word regarding Bush and the NSA.
Can we add to this singular voice I heard on GMA?
Darkwood,
Thanks for clarifying that.
It seemed to me that she is going to make him suspend the program, at least from the talking heads on GMA. If that can be believed. We can only hope.
I loved the fact she refered to him as "a King". This lady Judge gets it. Kudos to her for taking on this Admin.
Darkwood,
Just went to your blog...very nice. Left this comment, and after debating with myself, figured I should post it here, too.
I encourage others to visit there and reply there, too.
Yes, it will be instructive to see how this plays out.
I keep hearing people state how warrantless wiretapping has prevented terrorists and saved American lives. Well, if they want us to belive THAT, then I think the need to give us some examples...PROVE IT!
I also hear the right-wing radio folks talk about how that in time of war, the President has always had these powers. I must ask, then, was that in time of 'declared' war or just whenever a President declares us at war? There is a big difference. And there are important legal reason why we have not officially declared war. Remember, Vietnam was never officially a 'declared war', it was a 'conflict'....that went on for 14 damned years (Thank you, CIA!)

Missile-like metal tube is reported over Hilo Airport
By Rod Thompson
rthompson@starbulletin.com
HILO » The FBI and the Transportation Security Administration are investigating sightings of an object resembling a missile flying over the Hilo Airport area Tuesday morning, Hawaii County Civil Defense said.
Reports gave opposite descriptions of its direction and widely varying estimates of its size.
The largest estimate was about 12 feet long, and the smallest was one foot. One report said it was headed over the airport's main runway, but another said it was headed north from Hilo, away from the airport.
Civil Defense official Lanny Nakano said the federal agencies classified the sighting as unconfirmed. The FBI and TSA did not return requests for comment.
Nakano, reading from notes from another Civil Defense official, said it was seen at 10:18 a.m. headed away from the airport.
But an eyewitness, who asked that his name not be used, told the Star-Bulletin he saw it heading from the Civic Auditorium area to the Keaukaha area, which would take it over the main runway.
That witness saw a silver tube with no markings or fins, trailing "vapor" that quickly dispersed.
"The noise was super-loud," he said.
Police also interviewed about a half-dozen witnesses who saw or heard it, said police spokeswoman Chris Loos.
Loos and the nameless witness said there were plane flights before and after the object was sighted, but the object did not appear connected to their presence.
At Pohakuloa Training Area, 30 miles to the west, spokesman Bob McElroy said there were no military exercises using missiles.
Sunking, you wouldn't unleash the FSHOD on our dear mate UNI now would you?

Went to your blog as well. You should just call your blog 'The Perpetual Peckerhead'. Jeeeeeez, that was a looooooong blog! I'ze all Chinese-eyed, and not for the right reasons! (if you're under 50 you may not understand the term Chinese-eyed...go smoke a joint of good weed...then go look at yourself in the mirror, you'll get it!)
Anyway, I left a comment there, too.
Yeah...no more bongs in the control room...when you get a coughing fit and have to slam the bong down on the console so you can grab a coke, accidents can happen. Reefers only, henceforth!
That sure is an odd report. Odd that there is not more concern on that....almost NTSHMA-ish.

Thanks for dropping by. A real interesting bank robbery in my old stomping grounds now getting the cold shoulder by big media. It appears that a CIBC bank was hit two days ago. There was a big glitzy golf tournament going on at the Banff Springs Hotel which is on the other side of the bridge. The robbers set off a few smoke bombs, called 911 and tied up the bridge where all the RCMP were "very busy" doing crowd control and then, walked into the bank in their three piece suits making their gettaway while all the alarms came to naught as the bridge was a tangled mess of fire trucks, buses and mystifyed tourists that can jam the bridge up for no reason. I think the suppression of the news has something to do with the fact that the robbers made a clean gettaway which has to be one of those curios situations for Banff as there is only 2 ways in and out of town.
LMAO, eric! Yeah, they don't want word to get out about how easy it is. Funny!

Eric,
Is it still a two lane road lined with shops?
I remeber it well, but then again I haven't been to Banff in about 20 years.
This afternoon I had to go to my FIL (father in law) house to fix his printer. While there he was listening to Rush Limbaugh. I was interested to hear Rush's take on the NSA court ruling. Well, he had no opinion about it other than it was just gorribly wrong and misguided, and what was driving me so crazy was, instead of explaining why it was wrong in principle, he merely spent an HOUR doing a hachet job on the judge's credibility and character.
Don't have any hard facts? Attack.
Thanks Scarl !
I'm OK. I ducked when I saw the missile coming ;)
In 'Sleepy Hilo' of all places !
Its a mystery. At first I wondered if it was some kinda prank.

Hi All,
SK,
We do seem to be interested in the same subjects. We are about the same age I think. I'm 54. We have been able to watch things change a lot over that time. Although there are things I like about the present time tech-wise, there are times I feel like Dorothy waking up in an alternate universe. What frustrates me most is that given the values we all seemed to espouse back in the 60's, we sure picked a bunch of morons to lead our country. This is the most inept bunch of stooges I've ever seen. Growing up I don't remember things being so messed up as far as infrastructure is concerned. There were people who knew how to fix things and maintain stuff. What the hell happened?
I was heartened that finally a judge stood up to the Neo-Con regime and wants to take the decider's toys away. He may find out that he's not in fact King George, and serves, that's right, SERVES at the pleasure of the people that own this country. That would be us. I love the end of the movie "Patton" where he describes the warrior coming back from war with his triumphal procession, and the aide whispering in his ear that 'all glory is fleeting' to keep hubris from taking over. Maybe the Shrub needs someone to give him some of the same advice. His cronies are sure giving him the wrong stuff.
I was wondering when someone would stand up and cite the law in all this and not just idealism.
The Newt is back by the way. In an op-ed piece I read last nite he is saying we have to win the war on terror that he now call WWIII. What BS. These power hungry morons want to keep us afraid and at war forever. His line is that diplomacy won't work and that the only thing to do is defeat them. "Them" as in Iran, N Korea, Syria, and probably anyone else that opposes thier nonsense. He did cite the 'natural resources of the region' as a reason. Gee could he mean OIL? Duh. He can crawl back in his hole too.
Thankfully it seems some people are waking up and November can't get here soon enough.
Have a great weekend
mac
Google gone googlie.. I may have lost my blog with all the crap I have been dealing with for the last hour or more. It's hardly worth trying to post on weekends. I have a question about wedding etiquette.
Sister A has 2 kids - gets wedding invitation from her sister (B) 3,000 miles away
buys two dresses, plane tickets, hotel, car etc (goes hog wild doing it all online)
Sister A writes on the RSVP "can our 6yr old attend the ceremony ?"
Sister B calls to say groom has problem with kids at the wedding
but the sisters talk about family photo opportunities & stuff -
end up agreeing to terms - kid quiet & on his best behavior etc ...
Next day ... 7am ... phone rings ... it's the Sister B (bride to be)
Groom is not happy about side-deal struck between the sisters
as a result, Sister A is no longer invited to the wedding
Reason ? Not respecting the wishes of the bride & groom.
Nice Story, huh ?
I'm married to Sister A :-)
For Sister B and the Groom : I need some synonyms & metaphors
I can't go using the term "control freak" over and over, can I ?
Is there a book I can get them for their wedding that is about a control freak ?

CC,
re: wedding etiquette
The groom is screwing up big time. Men could care less about a wedding, it's all about what the women want. If he pisses off his bride, he will be reminded about it for the rest of his married existence...and the reminder will always come when he least wants to hears it.
Overall, this typifies the BS that attends so many weddings....the only thing that brings out worse behaviour is funerals.
And to think....I have 3 daughters. Sweet Mother of Jayzus.

The History Channel presents: The Exodus Deccoded
Premieres:
Sunday, August 20 @ 8pm ET/PT
The story of the Exodus invokes an epic tale--Pharaohs and Israelites, plagues and miracles, splitting of the sea and drowning of an army, and Moses. It's at the heart of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. After much research--working with archaeologists, Egyptologists, geologists, and theologians--filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici concluded that the Exodus took place hundreds of years earlier than thought. With a new timetable, Jacobovici reexamined artifacts and discovered that the traditional consensus on the date was reached without reference to Judaic texts that record the oral traditions. When Jacobovici consulted these texts, they revealed names of people and places unknown to researchers until recently when extensive excavations in the Nile Delta took place. Teaming up with special effects designers, he created a unique digital experience of the Exodus. Blending archaeological findings with eye-catching effects, Jacobovici creates a virtual museum to showcase his discoveries.

CC,
I hesitate to comment on your dilema, but I've been through so much negative family crap I can't restrain myself....
Were I you, I'd ignore the whole thing and feel relieved I didn't have to go and subject myself to the ordeal. I've found that to retain my own peace I just ignore or eliminate the people around me that destroy it.
I have an adopted daughter from a previous relationship. I have taken responsibility for her upbringing and support for the past 11yrs and she lives with me, and has since she was legally allowed to choose. She is getting married in a year. Her mother who has substance abuse problems along with the rest of her family are involved in the wedding. I've been to functions on a couple of occassions and suffice to say it was not a pleasant experience. The words drunken brawl or orgy come to mind. I won't subject myself to that ever again. My daughter and I are very close and after discussing this she is ok with the fact that I won't be there. It is one day. Long after that I will still be there as I am now. The other half of the family will go back to the other coast and be incommunicado as they are now.
That my seem hard, but I grew up in an alcoholic family and cleaned up my own life and won't subject myself to that nonsense any more. It doesn't matter to me what they do, but I don't feel an obligation to be part of it.
You can pick your friends, but not family....
Hope that helps
Ok I may be a day late and a dollar short on this...stress has erased most of my shortterm memory so forgive if its been discussed.
I happened to be watching TDC today and caught about 70% of Alien Planet. WOW. that was pretty cool, and the heavy hitters they had out for commentary!! My my! The one thought that continued to

Like SunKing, I think weddings are for "the chicks" -and was TOTALLY caught off guard.
A groom with sensitivities ? I thought that only happened at weddings with two grooms.
Don't worry, I won't be giving him ammunition - by giving him a box-cutter.
However, I should have a good one-liner ready (just in case)
I thought up "I got them a box-cutter and a bottle of peroxide" - then wished I was funnier.
We're going to Marineland and probably won't see the happy couple for a VERY long time.
I won't need IonTru02 to run naked thru the wedding -
if he streaks too early, before they say, "I do" and "I thoo"
My 35yr old sister-in-law might live at home forever ...
Sure is a lesson though ...
and thanks for the title, Scarlet - I'm gonna get them that book
might even have a helium hat delivered to his work
Just my way of saying THANKS
Thanks for letting me off the hook (weddings suck when it's just two over-dressed idiots excluding others)
Thanks for showing your true colours before I bought the wedding gift :-)

Irish firm claims 'free energy' invention
August 18, 2006 19:19
An Irish technology firm has issued a challenge to the world's scientific community.
It says its invention smashes one of the basic laws of physics by producing free energy. The company, called Steorn, has placed an advertisement in the Economist seeking 12 top scientists to examine its invention, based on magnetic fields, and publish their results. It says the energy eliminates the need to recharge mobile phones or refuel cars.
Sean McCarthy, Steorn's chief executive officer, said the company had issued the challenge for 12 physicists to rigorously test the technology so it could be developed.
'What we have developed is a way to construct magnetic fields so that when you travel round the magnetic fields, starting and stopping at the same position, you have gained energy,' Mr McCarthy said.
'The energy isn't being converted from any other source such as the energy within the magnet. It's literally created. Once the technology operates it provides a constant stream of clean energy,' he told RTE radio.
Mr McCarthy said Steorn had not set out to develop the technology, but 'it actually fell out of another project we were working on'.
One of the basic principles of physics is that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change form.

Yeah - he left an even worse message on my wife's voice-mail at work, but she can't transfer the message outside her company. Maybe we'll try a microcassette over the phone. I uploaded that to my web-site because my wife needs to explain why she will be in the same city as all her relatives - but not at the wedding. My wife won't show me the e-mail he wrote because, well, I'm male and when other males write stuff to your wife at work, there's a way guys handle that situation. I grew up in a rough town and I had a sister 14mos older than me. If anyone even LOOKED at my sister the wrong way, I sorta went nuts and that reputation followed from age 14 to 39. So, I'm pretending not to know about the email - and trying to think up creative ways to show my displeasure. I joked with my wife's two Aunts that it was the result of cold feet.
I have no plans to ruin the wedding - but I do wanna send a clear, yet subtle message about calling my wife at work. He could have called me and told me - he could have ordered a topless juggler to sing the uninvitation ... he should have done ANYTHING to avoid blasting my wife, who (thanks to me) is not yelled at. Instead, he seemed to enjoy it - and it freaks her out to be yelled at by a man. Hmmm ... I can think of one wayward Muslim who is staying in a hotel during the Winter Olympics in 2010. Hey - maybe we'll invite them, then un-invite them when they get here ... and they can take a Greyhound 100km east to get to the nearest hotel with a vacancy. Creative solutions are better than the "ground and pound" rules of the jungle and the schoolyard.

Soon as I read the words "Satanic Cult", my eyes tend to glaze over and the BS meter starts quivering.
There MAY be kernels of truth there, but it seems overwhelmingly coated in BS. ???????
re: wedding
Either groom has already instituted a male-dominated relationship (often the Muslim/Arab case), or the sister is just not putting up enough female 'backbone'. I am confident that, at least in my case, what the BRIDE wanted would be 'the rule'...all she has to do is put her foot down, and most grooms will give in. So, maybe Sis fits into this a bit more.
Advise: Just leave these fools alone. Their assholedness will be their own reward.
OK, enough about the "wadding".

Hello??????
Wow every one is still here.
Greetings friends. I am barely connected here with a 9.2kbps dial-up!
A wicked huge storm last week struck with lightening so very close to my house that I thought I heard it ping off my aluminum clad windows. Of course I thus jumped literally across the room in a blink wondering WTF!?.
Results that appeared after were that the strike took out the major transformer at my neigbouring tower as well as the telephone lines. I now have four computers that mysteriously will not even boot anymore and for some reason dial-up cannot get better than 9kps with no answers from the Bell people. Lots of weather weirdness.
Today I pulled a "Fonzy" and hand slammed my laptop that kept failing and what do ya know?! the thing growned and creaked and the hard drive barely started to go and so here I am for this brief moment!
Hope to be back in the land of Blog soon. Great posts everyone, good to 'see' you all.
maybe I was practicing for that wedding,
as I lept naked out of bed at 2:00 am streaking across the room away from the window, almost faster than the lightening bolt.

Here's a question for all.
Why not privately funded space exploration? There was a recent private launch for a sattelite i think. Private Co.s come up with billions for other stuff. Maybe the politics and waste would get out of it and we could see some progress. But maybe the gov't wouldn't want the competition.

sorta begs the question :
What's so public about the Space Program we've got now ?
Remember the chickens in the wind tunnel ?
NASA had this way of testing its windshields with chickens - to know they would survive a strike by a bird.
They loaned it to the British - but the British found that ALL the chickens smashed their windshields - couldn't figure out the problem.
They invited a NASA guy over to investigate, who told them : the chickens have to be thawed first.

Well, tomorrow is the speculated date for the end of the world...or I guess that's today...well today for OSOTP. Hows Tuesday OSOTP? World ended over there yet? Let us know if you see anything suspicious!
;)
End of the world tomorrow? Since I'm in Kentucky I have nothing to worry about. Mark Twain famously said that when the end of the world came, he wanted to be in Kentucky. Why? Because according to Mr. Twain, Kentucky is always about 100 years behind!
Swell....now that they've found the dark matter, whadda we gonna do for fun? I am NOT chasing Bible codes.
And of course they WOULD find it....the day before Iranian-inspired Armageddon.
It Just Ain't FAIR!!!
SSC,
PAH! Think how them poor devils in West Virginia gonna be livin' it up when all the Kentuckians finally go?
Sunking,
Obviously, Mark Twain spent no time in the hills of West Virginia. :-) I figure being there is good for at least an extra 75 years! Or it at least it seemed that way the last time I was there. Maybe that's why John Denver was singing about take me home country roads? LOL!
Lived in the Huntington area in my youth...tain't so pretty there...but way back up there, truly nice. I spent a week up at Stonewall Jackson's old farm...back in my youth, again,...it was real nice. But, Lexington ain't so bad either, and some parts of Ky. All my folks are from Russell. Dad and Grandpa were Kentucky Colonels. I just ate the chicken. ;)
i just got some slightly optomistic news from my mom. The biopsy came back benign! Now, that being said, they still want to do surgery to remove said mass and make sure the evil malignant carcinoma cells aren't just hiding.
The good news for the short term is no radiation and chemo.!
Great news for me as well as i was faced with not just all the hell that that entails, but I'd be doing the I-65 shuffle about once a week up to Nashvegas. & long drives with heavy hearts are the worst....Thanks for all your kind thought and prayers. They have made a difference.
(((((((((Crewe)))))))))
scarletm: That is great news! I'll continue to keep you and your mom in my thoughts. ((((((((((scarletm))))))))
Sunking: I know what you mean about Huntington. The drive to Pittsburgh via West Virginia was alternately beautiful and somewhat disturbing. Miles and miles of interstate without ever seeing another car. On a Friday night! None of my West Virginia friends ever want to go back except to visit family briefly.
Lexington is in serious danger of losing what makes it a special place. This is the source of much controversy here. Parts of Kentucky are very much like rural England in terms of the rolling hills and the landscape. At least until you hit the uberWalMart on the edge of Killpeoplesburg, Kentucky. (insert forlorn sigh here)
You cAN GET PORN from Wikipedia? I put a word or two, got interesting and throough...but no porn, unless and hand drawing and a picture from ancient Pompeii count.
Gee, what do they expect these people to do durning those long, lonely watches?
SSC:
I went to Lexington years ago to see an international Polo Championship of all things. (we had a friend playing) and I distinctly rememeber the blue grass. That hint of blue is something one doesn't easily forget. I was awed by all the horse farms and how the horses lived much better than most of their handlers. Truly beautiful country. The horses weren't too shabby either.
Nashville is fighting that too...all the urban sprawl and loss of wide open spaces. Is Lexington similar in that all the houses have enormous yards? Nashville is/was like that.
I miss my green hills and trees. Nashville is a city that loves it's trees. next time I go home I'm gonna put some dirt in a bottle and put it on the mantle and say to my self everyday....you WILL get home, you WIll get home.
I'm a little home sick today..can you tell? Maybe it's the good news from mom and I'm pissed I can't be there to share in this small victory...
Now, back to regular programming.
:)
From the NY Times headline:
Bush Argues Democrats Don’t Understand Threat to U.S.
Mr. President, we know the threat, and that threat is Y-O-U.
This also reminds me of the saying : when you point a finger at someone there are 3 pointng back at you.
HOWEVER...Hellory really scares me.
scarletm: Lexington is battling for its soul because some of those horse farms have turned into ugly subdivisions. Some of them have big yards, but most of them are McMansions crammed close together one after the other after the other. One of the horse farms has turned into the biggest subdivision/shopping centre in Kentucky probably bigger than most small towns. The infamous Hamburg Pavilion.
I try to stay close to the Victorian/turn of the twentieth century neighbourhoods. The house I live in was built in 1928 which is about as modern as I want to get.
Hellory ?

Driving with money....sounds like the cops are just greedy for the money and someone bought the judge. Now there's a surprise! That kind of corruption is pretty common in my state.
Ya know, after reading the story about the shrub defending his choice to invade Iraq, and coming clean that the reasons he gave were bogus, I've changed my mind about him and his cronies. I used to think they had an agenda and were smart enough to pull it off. Now I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't just totally stupid. Everything they touch seems to turn to shit, if not right away, in time it does.
I was listening to Imus this AM and Paul Begalla was on and called them a bunch of idiots.
Scarlet is right, the only threat is the Neo-Con morons in power. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not feeling threatened my terrorists or Muslims. I find it interesting that now the Muslims in this country are being painted as suspect no matter who they are. Sounds like the same race-baiting they work on the black population, just to keep everybody at odds.
If they are as inept as they appear, I'm not going to worry too much that they can pull off what they think they can. Sooner or later this is all going to blow up in thier faces. The aftermath of 9/11, Katrina etc is not dying. There are a lot of people still sifting the rubble and not letting it go. I think they counted on the short attention span of the sheeple and figured wrong.
New storm in the Atlantic, off the Cape Verde Islands. They are already hyping it. Projected to head for Bermuda. The water temp. off the NE coast is in the high 60's and off Long Island in the low 70's. Not warm enough to sustain a hurricane. Over the past week the ocean temps have been cooling. What a pity....
Wonder what they will do to pump up this one.

Hey Did someone say that the gubmint is building a swastika shaped US 'embassy' complex in Baghdad ?
There is that swastika shaped building at Coronado Naval Base which supposedly houses the SeaBees in San Diego area. It would be merely a nother coincidence to find another US govt swastika building.
Hey Mac, was wonderign where the heck you were. You'd think it's the dog-days of summer around here, no one posting!
Ya know, I still submit that what we see is on a more subtle level then Neo-Cons or whatever label is put on some folks. They are just tactical 'tools' for a much more long-term, strategically minded group a la Fletcher Prouty's 'Secret Team' or Churchills 'High Cabal'. These folk and their real 'tools' (i.e. the ones you will never see on Meet The Press or the evening News...unless it's just in their 'disguise') have effectively and patiently operated to acheive their ends. Now, what those ends are I can not even guess...but my thought is that 'they' want the entire population of Planet Earth subjugated as the American people are...working, in debt, and placated into this way of life with enough creature comforts to make us think we're 'happy' and free...while we are the furthest thing from being either free OR happy. If anything, we are more controlled than ever...and too busy watching Monday night football (or the History Channel?) and drinking Bud to realize it.
If you haven't yet, scoll back up to Uni post with the link to Neo-Fascism 101...I was looking for a link I saw the other day and ran into this....good stuff. Read it!

Been reading a book about the Miss. River flood in the 20's. Lots of history of the politics and the people behind the power on the Delta and in Miss. Like reading current events. I'll see if I can link it to Amazon for a synopsis. Very interesting. Things that are happening now are still connected to the machinations of that period. I'm just curious.
How many terrorists are attending cocktail parties???? :P
Wonder if they could figure out a way to make them more ineteresting now? ;)
Does anyone here listen to All Things Considered on NPR? I'm finding that they are ratcheting up the fear level from just about every angle you can think of whether it's peroxide terrorists or being five pounds overweight will kill you early.
Yet, some rather provocative things still get said. One person being interviewed was extremely doubtful of the British airplane plot and openly said that it was hyped for political purposes. Of course he was followed promptly by the neocon apologist who denigrated the previous person and ramped up the fear. That segment ended with the viewpoint of the fear monger.
Another segment featured a lady who has spent a lot of time in Afghanistan who said the US alliance with Pakistan was insane if the goal is to go after countries who harbour terrorists since it was clear to the average Afghan citizen that the Taliban is streaming in from Pakistan. It appeared to the Afghan people that the US was sponsoring the Taliban even though it was supposed to be "fighting" them.
The interviewer's questions all seem to defend the Bushites in response to whatever the person being interviewed said. Then at the end, the interviewer asks about the soap making business the lady in Afghanistan is trying to get off the ground. Apparently, she formed a co-op to find other uses for poppy seeds and soap making was one of them. The question seemed designed to lower the credibility of the person being interviewed as in well, she's over there to make money and what does a soap maker really know about what's going on in Afghanistan?
Every segment seemed designed to increase a person's unease and instill more fear. The last segment I heard before I turned it off was the one where even being a little overweight will kill you. Whatever. I doubt being slightly overweight will kill you as fast as the prescription meds you're given to treat the problems being overweight supposedly causes.
Just another day at Neocon Paranoid Radio or Neocon Propaganda Radio. Take your choice. I liked them better when they were National Public Radio without all the evil corporate sponsors they now have. When pledge drive comes up, they can go to hell. I own enough classical music records, I don't have to listen to their grovelling for dollars to continue what has become a real shame.
This reminds me of the battle Pacifica Radio fought a few years ago when the neocons tried to hi-jack them. Fortunately at the time, they won. NPR doesn't seem so lucky to me.

Darkwood..thanx for the heads up. Makes you wonder why we have to fight for everything these days. It reminds me that they made natural remedies "medicine" in Canada and must not be allowed to make medicinal claims "(unless it is by prescription)" and cannot be sold as food if it is a medicine. Why do we have to fight for everything that is obviously traditional to our culture?

As the five-year anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks approaches, nearly three-fourths of those responding to a CNN poll said they believe Osama bin Laden is planning another significant attack against the United States.

Thanks OSOTP...Burns me up, bums me out but no way will it burn me out. The hard part will be to keep the machine oiled; all systems go; Transition period through the rough patch. I have mentioned this before. The physical structures of our great cities, highways, airports tra la la la la...are garbage. It's really difficult to drive by a row of houses in Anyware, North America and see a "good thing". It isn't. The whole thing shuts down just like New Orleans with a three day interruption.
What happened to our aspirations of environment friendly, self sufficiency? Not possible if some segments, races, religions are disrespected. We all need to come up together. There are gated communities that recycle the gray water into organic gardens, produce their own electricity, provide their own security and do it quietly without fanfare. The architecture for self-sufficiency is out there and it needs to be shared.

Ye Peijian, a leading scientist with the Chinese Research Institute of Space Technology, made the announcement at an ongoing forum on China's space technology development.
Ye said Russia will launch the spacecraft in 2009 and it will carry China-made survey equipment. It will collect samples on Mars and the planet's nearest moon.
Sun Laiyan, administrator of the China National Space Administration said last month at an international space conference that China is actively planning its deep space exploration over the next five years, focusing on lunar and Mars exploration.

SSC,
Remember that the Bush Administration, amidst harsh claims (Rove-inspired?) that NPR was not 'fair and balanced', put one of their fair-haired boys in office running NPR and he forced the 'Will of Rove' on programming at NPR. This despite the fact that there have consistently been more Conservative guests on NPR than otherwise, so says FAIR.

And another interesting point.

OSOTP,
I believe we discussed you point about bin Laden and the FBI Most Wanted alert for him some time back. Regardless, here the link to it....and no mention of 9/11.

But with all the Bush family ties to the bin Laden family...what do you expect?

The deal with dark matter is a nod to the astrophysicists and cosmologists of 100 years ago referring the an "aether" in space.
If W.I.M.P.S (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) like axions, massive neutrinos, and photinos are considered:
1. Theoretically, WIMPS could have been produced in the Big Bang origin of the universe in the right amounts and with the right properties to explain the dark matter.
on the other hand,
2. No one has ever observed even one of these particles, let alone enough of them to explain the dark matter."
and ....
"The CERN newsletter reports that a new paper by scientists at the University of Victoria has demonstrated that one of the prime observational justifications for the existence of dark matter can be explained without any dark matter at all, by a proper use of general relativity!

Your last two posts point to the non-existense of Dark Matter. What, then, are the ramifications if there is no such thing as dark matter?
CC..more on John Dee..for your perusal..

I always thought the Tom Cruise moment on Oprah's couch was just an enthusiastic 'nod' back to the movie "Risky Business" and the scene that back then was so hip that many a young person was mimicking it often....socks included.
Deep eh?
O.k. I do feel that FEAR is deffinately a fire that is being 'cultivated' to fuel something.
Perhaps some middle level knowledge to mechanistically 'balance' duality in a ying/yang outcome. How higher knowledge revealed from the true masters says how unnecessary any of those 'starategies' are.
So, is Blasted's found article so far out? Is it only for the consumption of Power and Control? This does not feel like equilibrium, so why the diet of Fear death suffering carnage drama? Who dines on this stuff and holds this world in such flounder?
Those that know the real hygeine for movement beyond, are raised up in true feeling's force as a transcendent. Why the ongoing entrapment and obfuscation of the WAY? Is there a consumptive element here that is not capable of 'rising up' and traveling beyond this mortal coil any more? This theme has been articulated by many others, that there are 'those' that have lost the skill and are 'stuck' here and subsequently live in/by the diet of death fead by fear as a fire for their food. And thus are trapped in this ever persisting domain, herding the cattle sheeple in THEIR dissasociation from the real source energy.
No REAL Power over us if we actually were able to 'clear our heads', but all the same very good at making most of us unable to real.ize 'The Way' out of the dark.
Sure basic carrots pull some of us along a little bit, but not quite enough to realize profound freedom/happiness and resolution of the stream of limiting conditional conditions arising at every turn.
One can't 'defeat' the dominator of this place that is bound here anyway, but one can crack through the binding illusion and the captivating array of stimulations and experiences meant to passify and ultimately conclude with dissapointment because most fundamentally one knows "that's not IT". One knows at the deepest feeling that there is more and this is but a 'sliver' of it, an apparition that hardly feeds or fulfills at all.
Only little sweetness that arises and passes like nothing more than a sugar frosting. And yet we know at heart there is more than just this bullshit struggle based existence founded only on fear and suffering.
I don't seek or follow carrots anymore, but I feel the foul nothingness of this current herding of the human's. If it was meant to be a teaching tool, it ain't working!
Now I endeavour to stand with clarity and behold and witness with conscious regard, the hearts that yearn to be holy whole.
Ya I weep at this red/orange spectra of hellish contrivence, that withold's our growth to our greater cosmic glory.
No more restraint. I rant in early personal growth's judgement, but now I know, what will make all things grow, and I will give no food to the 'inhibitor'.
In but a blink of time I am here and gone. 40 years already so suddenly passed while amused in spectating the world, presented by a media of distraction.
The PRESENT is here, before me, to BE WITH, to serve THAT WHICH IS, THAT WHICH IS the real consciousness, understanding now THAT is the only Thing that actually IS. The rest is just a machine, of no real anything.
So little time left to grow, I must not waste this time.
40 more years? I doubt it. So hard, awakening, so much glue trying to keep me stuck in this quagmar, changing channels continually hoping for something more than just death and disaster.
I can not fix the world, but I can fix my view anew. In HEART I see 'hear', I see 'ear' and I am learning to listen for Truth, for REAL.
I was a.noid in avoid and now I awaken and re.turn
It feels like time to 'brighten up'
...off to shine on the day. Peace friends.
Iontruo2: Very well said! At 44, I know the feeling about time. But then I don't really belong to this era and find it continually dismaying.
Regarding what I said about NPR yesterday. Apparently a couple of my co-workers noticed the same thing I did and were commenting this morning on how far they thought NPR has gone down the tubes. I guess for some people NPR was the last hope for radio journalism. I'm sure if someone hasn't already, someone will write a book on the hi-jacking of NPR.
re: Orion Announcement
Not sure when it was released, but I know Goro was discussing 'Orion' and the mission logo on Aug. 16th. So I do not think Williams liet anything 'slip'.
re: Radio
Sometimes when you listen to radio, like NPR, consider that sometimes certain individuals may be given the 'air' to allow you to hear what these people (who are often consultant or advisor or 'think tankers') are saying, inasmuch as these folks are often those who are fedding information to those in power. And often, this ought to scare the living bejesus out of you!
Look for the 'hidden' comunication.
Here's one for today's 'What Would Jesus Do?' section.
You'll see my comment on the right sidebar.

The implications for no dark matter/dark energy (DM/DE), are not so significant. It implies:
1. Properly applying Einstein's General relativity equations,
and/or
2. discovering a new physics and/or universal model.
An adjustment in the total age of the universe, i.e., the universe is younger than we calculate can also account for this.
To state that "something" accounts for 90% of the matter in the entire known universe is quite a substantial reach.
The whole dark matter business plus the recent (sort of) revelation that the expansion of the universe is speeding up instead of slowing down tells me that our understanding of gravity is incomplete; that current application of Einstein's equations are missing some sort of factor that is significant only on large scales. I have a sneaking suspicion that in the same way that Einstein's SR equations boil down to Newtonion equations when velocities are a small fraction of c, new gravitational equations will boil down to GR equations on "smaller" scales (or what we humans perceive as scale, anyway).
I hope this helps.

Boh,
LOL! Yeah, that cleared things up for ME! (NOT!, but that's MY fault, not yours!)
I assume GR=General Relativity. What is 'SR'?
And I forget what the c of E=mc squared is. ???
Boh,
Is there anyway for us to know if, like our solar system and like our galaxy, the universe is rotating too?
Again, from the folks ar Virtual Citizens....here is the text of Ike Eisenhowers's famous 'Military/Industrial Complex' speech given on his final night as President (I believe that's correct). I have never read the entire speech before and, having done so, I am impressed. Need to find who his speech writer was, if not Ike himself. And much credit to Ike for delivering it.
We've obviously let him down on all points in that speech.
Do read!

Bubba,
Go to the 'About Us' page on their site. If you haven't already figured that out.
Bubba,
I musta missed something....how do you know about the F-101 guy fearing for his life?
Sunking,
re:radio These days I don't think they even bother to hide anything. It's out in the open to anyone paying attention or to those not paying full attention insidious enough to do its damage.
My respect for Eisenhower went up a few more notches now that I've read the full text of his famous military complex speech and sadly see where parts of the speech could be exploited for evil purposes by the current administration.
Sometimes, you just don't realise how far America has slid downhill until you read the speeches of statesmen instead of the corporate whores who run our government now.
