Christmases Long-Long Ago

Somewhat in keeping with our previous blog, this blog again deals with the paranormal. One of my favorite Christmas songs is Andy Williams' It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. But this song does have that enigmatic line about "scary ghost stories", an intriguing line of verse that has always made me wonder...."What ghost stories?".
Searching about on the Internet, there just aren't that many Christmas ghost stories. But I believe that more people have paranormal experiences than write about them, perhaps because they tend to be of a more personal nature. But at what better a time than this special time of year when many are in an heightened emotional or meditative state and suitably receptive to the stirrings of the paranormal plane.
Eastern Paranormal is a blog that has some stories that I think are typical to what I am referring to here. But then, of course, I do have my own tale to tell....
I think it was during the Christmas season of 1997, that one Christmas Eve, I decided to sit on the front porch and smoke my pipe. It was a one of those treasured clear, cold and calm Northwest-Florida winter nights, with a big bright moon. This combined with the bright glow of the Christmas lights to make a lovely sight, and as I smoked I fell into a nostalgic reverie. As I savored 'the feel' of Christmas, I began to reminisce about Christmases past, the large family gatherings, the glorious feasts, the wonder of the few 'White Christmases' I've been blessed to experience. I then thought about my dear, long-gone Grandmother (Edith Perry) and my Dad, who had passed away only about 5 years before. I thought about how much I loved them and missed them, and wept at that missing. I spoke private words to them, then, expressing these deeply felt emotions, the sweet yet bitter loss...
At my lowest moment, eyes full of tears and the pipe totally forgotten, there was suddenly a strong and sustained gust of wind amidst the calmness, the Christmas flag at the corner of the porch began to flap loudly and wildly and, surprisingly, the flood lights in the same corner came on full blaze. This was surprising because 2 weeks before I had discovered that these lights would not work, even with new red and green bulbs for Christmas! I jumped from my rocking chair, ran in the door and checked the light switches...they did not appear have been switched on. I called into the den where my family were and asked if anyone had switched on the lights or anything, and received a negative response. Perplexed, I returned to the porch and chair and pipe...when the realization hit me...either Grandma or Dad or BOTH had just communicated with me, I think, to comfort me and let me know that they WERE there, sharing that Christmas moment with me. I felt an overwhelming warmth envelope me with this realization and spoke loving and tender words to those who loved me and meant so much to me in those Christmases of yesteryear.
Of course, the wife and girls thought I was bonkers!

Oh...and know that on Sunday December 16, 2007 at 5:20PM I became a grandfather to sweet little Lily, 7 lbs. 15 oz. and 21 inches long. Ans so beautiful she is.
So with all the trouble and trvail of the past few months, we Do have a special 'gift under the tree' this year, and much to be thankful for.

I really enjoyed your story. with both parents gone this year i hope, perhaps i can have a "Christmas message" from them myself.
This year is sad-so much of my landscape has changed. So much loss. But, I do take comfort from a story like yours that perhaps they can now be with me always...even if I can't "see" em.

Re: the blog. I usually avoid Christmas music like the plague, but now I find myself curious about that old Andy Williams chestnut. Maybe Andy is trying to be all inclusive so that the Goth children can enjoy the holiday too. :-)
I looked at the lyrics to that Andy Williams song, and was dissapointed to not see who wrote it and more importanly, when it was written.
My hunch is that it is from an earlier time, maybe early days of television or even from the old radio days, when families gathered together for the holidays and actually entertained each other instead of watching movies on 200 cable stations. Or playing video games or blogging on the internet ;)
And certainly before the "Will and Grace" era, with lies like:
"With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It's the hap- happiest season of all"
I think "having a gay time" dates back to the 1940s.
Mrs. Gort and I went to St Louis today to visit relatives. I had the gratest time building a gingerbread house with my neice from California. We had about six teams of gingerbread house builders, from about age 7 to 55. It was not a competition, but it sure was fun.
I also took four traditional Christmas Key Lime Pies that I baked yesterday.

Mixed with that we have Sunking's birth announcement....and I am on standby here for a newborn to come soon as we roll into January. Could be premi, wife is huge and quit wrought with 'discomfort' (Braxton and Hicks etc).
These days really show us the force of change. Ending changes and new beginnings.

According to spaceweather.com the Comet 8P/Tuttle is now naked eye visible near Casiopia in the northern sky and will be making it's closest approach to Earth on New Year's Day. It shows up in photos as a green ball.

My guess is that there will hardly be a ripple in the lake of international affairs. And her striving for greater democracy, too. A pity.

Some mighty curious posts you've been making here, bubba. Well, the posts aren't necessarily curious, but the fact that you're posting some of them here is.
re: Bohemia, I beg to remind you that while Bohemia started out as quite an exceptional fellow AND friend, towards the end his extremely anomalous behavior (e.g. dark, twisted statements in emails/Gabbly/etc, the fact that the more he talked the taller and more unbelievable his 'tale' became, his deleting his own comments in FSHOD then claiming he was being attacked, etc) combined with the fact that he was revealed to be less the scientist and more the computer systems security expert led me to the decision that we were all being played by an expert. If you look at some of the blogs he made wherein he talks about agents of dyzinformtzya and mind control, you will see that he more than posted those for reference...he was basically telling us how he was playing us. He's a fraud. Exactly the type we allude to when we deal with disclosure and security related issues. I don't care who you chose to associate with, it's your business old friend.
SO, they may 'crow' about the addition to their 'place', but then, I guess it's always better to have a variety of nuts in the bowl during the holidays!

Thanks for all the 'congrats' and good wishes you sent re: my new grandbaby. I spent some good, soul-restoring time with her on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day. I have been blessed to have a pretty and healthy granddaughter, and what greater Xmas present could one ever hope to be given?

It's funny how certain words affect us in unintentional and somewhat Pavlovian ways. No matter where in the vast wasteland of 24/7 media someone says "stay tuned", my first reaction is to tense up and become annoyed. I've grown to associate the words "stay tuned" with being strung along with breadcrumbs.
Speaking of bread,a quick run through the public library catalogue is now showing me that not only are all copies of the Monument of Mars gone, but so is the MARC record showing we ever had it in the first place. Since this accursed institution is a devotee of the Business Model of Libraries, I doubt that Dark Mission will hit our shelves anytime soon along with a great many other books on a wide variety of subjects. Why buy books if you can spend the money on Wii systems and play bowling with seniors or fat bonuses for directors who mistake themselves for corporate CEOs?
After years of breadcrumbs, I'm not too inclined to shell out money to discover I'm holding more breadcrumbs. So, if I want to read Dark Mission, I'll have to get it on interlibrary loan, but since it's also time I'll never get back if it's a turkey, I wonder if someone who has read it would be interested in writing a review of it for the next blog?

I've been outside in "my little woods" in the middle of this small town starring at the patch of sky, stars and moon I am able to see directl South (with no light pollution) and have witnessed odd stirings in my soul and seen things happen around me that are at first, in a non-mystic way, I did NOT run around and try to find out WHAT was causing it...instead I centered myself on it and got lost in it and found that there WAS a connection with an all loving encompassing intelligence to LIFE and it's Universe.
So...the next time your out mediating somehwere...especially with a pipe...and 'something' odd and wonderful happens...don't TRY to understand it...TRY to meld with it.

He was going on about how Musharrif (sp?) has done just about all the US has asked and linking Bhutto (and her Father) to corruption in government. I tending to agree with you on this. I usually equate "Stay Tuned" with something being 'sold' to me. In this case, I have not yet convinced myself to spend money on 'Dark Mission". Unless my library is like Starships Bane, I'll do like Robert and use my faithful library card. It's not that I'm not interested in reading it...it's just that I'm not sure I want to fill the coffers of Hoagland. Tho he influenced me (hell, all of us???), the golden idol is somewhat tarnished. Hence my hesitation.

With regard to Bhutto: It seems to me that if you want to get rid of someone politically without killing them in Pakistan, you tag them with corruption charges. What McCain said is laughable on one level and more the same old crap on another.
It seems a lot of people are asking the same question: how did the assassin get so close to Bhutto in the first place? I think most people already know the answer to that, and the usual attempt at cover-up will lead to much more tragedy.
Starship's Bane. LOL! True enough that! If anyone wants to see how my public library is run just watch a few episodes of The Office and you'll understand perfectly. Only ratchet up the stupidity a few notches and realise taxpayer dollars are involved. Most of us who work at the library refuse to watch the Office these days because its way too much like what happens to us on a daily basis. Don't want to see that kind of insanity on our own time!
Again, I ask: Is anyone who has read Dark Mission cover to cover willing to do a review of it for a blog entry? There are core ideas I am still much in agreement with about Martian ruins etc, but I've stayed tuned long enough. The golden idol in my mind is quite tarnished and my reticence extends even to time spent with a library book.
I've pored over Apollo photos and for the most part, I'm just not seeing it. I'm not saying there aren't ruins on the moon, I just haven't yet seen a photograph that removes reasonable doubt where glass structures are concerned. Which of course is the big problem I have with years of bread crumbs, when does the incontrovertible proof finally appear?
Oddly, evidence of civilisation on Mars is so much easier to see even though we already know that the really good stuff is still hidden away somewhere.
I admit that I am not the most well informed person in matters of astronomy, so if my next question is spectacularly stupid, feel free to laugh. Given what Earth based telescopes have been able to pick up and photograph from vast regions of interstellar space, why can't the same telescopes image the Moon in greater detail? Or has this already been done? I'm wondering if anyone has ever pointed one of these super powerful scopes at the lunar landing sites and either photographed or reported what they saw? I would think that even the amateur scopes by now would be good enough to possibly pick up anomalies if one took the time to study the lunar surface.
I used to study lunar photographs in the 1970's when I was a kid, the resolution would have to be much higher now. If it's there, it should be findable.
When I get time later, this might make an interesting net search...

V-044-0058 is a "Earth Set" over the lunar South Pole. Ignore the Earth and look at the stuff at the South Pole.
V-044-0053 has a long translucent structure in the lower left of the last frame.

Funny, when I was younger, a book came to me by chance that I read called Agartha. It was light in content really, but influential nonetheless.

Speaking of reading e-books online,
back when we were discussing king Tut exhibit in Greenwich,and the stopping of the Big Ben clock, I was reminded of a novel by Joseph Conrad called The Secret Agent.
I've never read it, but is is available cheap in bookstores as a "classic" or even cheeper online, as an e-book (free!).
I saw a dramatization of it once on TV. The secret agent (agent provacateur) is hired to create a "false flag" attack to be blamed on the "anarchists" so the British establishment can clamp down on dissidents. Something like that.
The plan is hatched to blow up the royal observatoy at Greenwich. As I recall, there was a great monologue about the symbolic nature of the official keeping of Time, and the slavery of time, and the new world order (maybe ?) and why "stopping the clock" at Greenwich would be such a big deal.
Anyway, somehow it all ties in to New Year's Eve, and GMT in the scientific (space) world, etc.
If one of you more avid readers finds in which chapter that monologue is found, please let me know. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

As for The ROCK hitting Mars, I took the same 'liberty' NASA/JPL do with THEIR space data about Cydonia...i.e. fudge the frack out of it....:D April's fools HEALINE I spread across all the space bbs I get to on a fairly monthly basis.
Besides I am sure Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage will join forces with a Military "Space Warfare Operational n Reconassaince Department" ( hehe ) and get there just in the 'nick of time' to steer the thing into the Southern Pole releasing all that water there into the atmosphere. :D
And...btw..Nick will "loose" Sean into the Deserts of Mars' DUNES :D when King Georgie Jr. and the Dark Lord Cheney want to know what happened to him.
Haven't had time to look at the last few links posted...on another 'mission' :D from which I need rest from as my wife says since today was the second day I tripped from just being over-tires and spending too much time gathering the pieces of data I will need to proceed.

But to the point the even the thought, let alone the act, of going outdoors..away from the sounds and smells of humandkind, made the physically sick and incapacitated. FWIW.
Actually, that series has a lot of food for thought about the way society and humanity is going. For instance, the people on the automated, computerized Robot worlds rarelysaw each other, interacting solely through 'the machine', analagous to some of today's people, enclosed at home, communicating via email or webcam, gaming via internet, otherwise glued to da tube! Toss in 2012-strength solar radiation (speculation here), some new, nasty communicable diseases...and POW!, it's suddenly quite smart to live a more cloistered life! Oh well, just some thoughts...

I was reading somewhere (Hiram's Key?) that the letter 'A' started out in Sumer as a 'V' (there may have been the horizontal line, can't recall), representing a bulls head with the upper part of the letter (the serif?) being the horns. The Greeks tuned it sideways (OK...no wisecracks here) and eventually the bull got stood on it's head and Voila!, the letter 'A'. :) But essentially, the same letter shape has survived from ancient Sumer.

I go to see some of the meteor shower early this morning...saw about 3 'shooting stars'. Venus and the Moon were 'close to each other' and conditions very cold (for Jax) and clear. I had just danced and cood my new granddaughter to sleep, since she had started crying about 3:30 (unbeknownst to my heavy sleeping self). I got up about 5:30, relieved wifey and got the baby to quiet down and we finally got her to bed...so I thought I'd go see some of the meteor. All quite lovely.

Crypto's writings, on the face of it, were interesting for a bit, but you can only allude to the deep, the dark, the mysterious so many times until at SOME point you need to come out and clearly state just what the heck you mean and make some firm conclusion of one's thesis...or you lose the interest of the reader and the crediblity of the author.

There are no tropical storms currently.
The center of the big storm that hit California is moving into southern Wisconsin, trailing a line of storms into Illinois and Missouri. We just had tornado warnings that expired here in Columbia and 1/4 inch hail.
There is a tornado moving at 60 miles per hour across southern Boone County, Missouri moving into Calloway County.
Today is the 7th of January, but it feels like a spring or summer storm outside. Currently 70 degrees F, Tomorrow night it will dip to 28 F.

CC's work is tough to digest in some respects, I'll give you that. But this is what I have learned. The What is straight forward. Sending private messages across public channels. Place names are just a part of "the game". It is the How that is difficult for me to understand and that is something that I won't be able to fully grasp until I see it in visual form. I learn better that way, but that is not his fault. The Who is extremely straight forward. It is the Power Elite, the same Power Elite that you rail on and want Disclosure from. And due to the 'sensitive' (national security) nature of the What, How, and Who, it just might be that "Disclosing" could be problematic for him. Where and When are obvious. The Why is the most difficult question to answer. There could be multiple reasons and the only ones who can truly shed light on that would be the Power Elite and I'm sure we won't hear them talking anytime soon.

Just finished reading Crypto's blog. Interesting comment from Richard Dawkins regarding humans being pattern-seeking creatures, but I gotta wonder: Do we infer design in nature and other non-manmade phenomena because our brains choose to perceive it, or because... it's there? I mean, where do you draw the line between coincidence/synchronicity and sentience? How many times do I have to see the number 14 in a period of months, weeks, or even days, before I can honestly say I'm not intentionally seeking it out anymore? (Blog forthcoming). When do we stop seeking patterns... and when do they start seeking US? Is the difference between a Pollock and a Titian mere evolutionary sleight-of-hand? When we feel an undeniable, for want of a better word, presence... an intelligence greater than our own, is our mind just playing tricks on us? Can the human mind even conceive of an intelligence greater than its own if it could not exist?

I reread Who Mourns for Apollo and it does provide a good refutation of most of the key points in the Landing Hoax theory. When I read the WMFA series for the first time, which was in 2001, I had just been introduced to the idea of a Moon Landing Hoax and I was totally skeptical. I remained so for another 5+ years. However, I began to do a little research and the idea of a Landing Hoax did not seem so outlandish.
Although you presented a good analysis of the Van Allen Belts, I still have doubts as to whether or not humans can survive a trip through them. Also, the way the Lunar Rover "kicked up dust" on the Moon seemed a tad inconsistent with the way "dust" should behave in the Lunar environment. So, I still thought it was unlikely that the Hoax was real, but the possibility did exist in my mind.
Fast forward to now. I am extremely skeptical of anything that "Government" is involved with. I know that "Government" has lied to its populace about almost everything it is and does. I have also become skeptical about anyone who vehemently defends their position in a rude and condescending manner, as though there is no possibility that they could be wrong. Now that I'm 42 and have lived a little I know that nothing is Black and White. There is Grey everywhere.
That said, there are two bits of evidence that I have come across that put the Moon Hoax Theory in a whole new light for me and I think for anyone who has an open mind and understands what "Government" is capable of. The link to this evidence is here:
Apollo Moon Hoax? Dr. David Groves Analysis
The major points:
Dr. Groves, who is a Physicist and Computer Image Analyst, analyzed the photo of Buzz Aldrin descending the ladder from the LM and he was able to determine that there was an artificial light source used in the picture and he was also able to determine where it was placed in relation to the camera. There is a "hot spot" on Aldrin's right boot which Dr Groves is able to analyze and prove that the artificial light source was placed between 24-36 cms to the right of the camera that took the photo. According to NASA, they did not use artificial lighting, so this revelation causes huge problems for the credibility of the Moon Landing.
The argument that the lighting is Earthshine does not hold water. The lunar surface luminosity is so low it can't illuminate the shadow side of the smallest lunar rocks. A picture of the LM shows the light source, the sun, in the camera but the backside of the LM is fully lit. It should be black, unless there is back lighting.
The picture of Aldrin with the reflection in his visor has serious problems. The lighting is not uniform. The center of the image should be at his abdominal area, but it’s over his lower right leg which shows the camera was placed at eye level and pointed down. The camera was supposed to be a chest level.
Brian Welch, The Director of Media Services of NASA says about Dr. Groves’ analysis,
“It’s pseudo-scientific, nitpicky, claptrap and I wonder why we are spending even a minute talking about it”.
I’m sure he would say the same thing about the work of TEM.

The "average" reflectivity of the moon's surface is not the same as localized spots of reflectivity.
In order to have an average, you have to have some "more" and some "less" reflectivity.

re:CC I DO get the feeling he's onto something. But for sometime I read his seems-like-I-came-in-on-the-middle-of-a-conversation posts and just got more and more frustrated. Again, his language 'alludes' to this and that, without never giving the Who or the Why in detail, as you so eloquently pointed out. It was not for any lack of understanding or ability to understand on my part...it's just that the data was never given! It was like reading the Introduction to a book....always! His posts never seem to got past chapter 1. I gave encouragement to him, asked questions, expressed interest and a desire to know more...but it just didn't seem to happen. It came to me this afternoon that the good Doctor Groves was trying to compare the reflectivity of the rubber-esque heel of a brand new boot in the Apollo 11 picture against the heel of a boot that is now nearly forty years old. In all that time it surely would have lost its original sheen.
On the other hand, there is the possibiltiy that a few strategic photos were staged in advance to have really good pictures for the publicity/propaganda value.
The recent movie, "In the Shadow of the Moon" addresses the question of the "faked" moon landings. The astronauts all say they were there. And as one says,
"I could see faking one landing on the moon, but what would be the point of faking SIX landings on the moon? "

We are talking GOVERNMENT. Logic does not come in to play. Don't forget, the astronauts are MILITARY property and they will do as they are told, 'for the good of their country'. There are a number of reasons why 'Government' would continue the charade. What would be the point of going to the Moon only once? And if going back to the Moon is so important now for Bush, why not just do it and not wait until 2020? Don't say money either, because that shows an total lack of understanding as to how 'Government' funding operates. Engineers are having a very difficult time reviewing the work that was done at the time to understand how it was done!
One has to wonder why Buzz Aldrin became a raging DRUNK after the mission. One would think an accomplishment like his would have had him "on cloud nine" instead of "the depths of despair".
Did you watch the video? The sheen has nothing to do with Dr. Groves' analysis. It is the curvature of the heel that was important.

A broad expanse of shiney moon surface would reflect as a small "hot spot" on the heel.
This is not rocket science, it is high school physics (optics) based on "the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection" from Sir Isaac Newton in the several centuries ago.
They guy who took the picture from "two feet higher" could have been. The moon's surface is not flat.
The lenghth of shadows vary depending on the slope of the adjacent ground surface on which they are cast.

Another question about "boots on the Moon" is this:
If the Apollo program did land 6 missions on the moon, as advertised, why did NASA suddenly stop going and scrap the remaining rockets and craft, and toss the blueprints and manuals in the dumpster.
And then proceed with years of low-Earth-orbit manned shuttle missions, Skylab and the International Space Station? (Boring!) And occasional "success" like placing the Hubble Telescope in orbit, and then making trips to make repairs, so the public can be amazed by beautiful false-color photos of deep space phenomena?
Was it the American public's lack of interest? Congress and funding questions? NASA's hidden agenda?
A shell game (hide the pea) to distract "everyone" while sending secret military missions to the moon?
We were able to afford fighting a "war" in Vietnam while we were at the same time being able to afford the Apollo program. The average home desktop computer or laptop has more computing power than NASA had in the Apollo program. We have technological advances to build things that are at the same time stronger and lighter weight.
We have "CAD-CAM."
I think if "we" wanted to send manned missions to the moon in a public space program in less than 10 years, as we supposedly did in the 60s, I think we could do it in at least the same amount of time, if not sooner.
So what is holding us back?
Is it a lack of leadership? A lack of Vision? Did the Aliens tell us we can't go there? Did a Secret Cabal of Teamsters, the Mafia, the Masons, the Dixons, the Hatfields, and the McMuffins highjack the Real space program and surrepticiously continue Moon Mining and Manufacturing (3M) ;)

I believe that we did go to the moon, but the questions being posed about why it's so "hard" to go back are very good ones. I think the reasons for the difficulty are completely bogus. My BS meter is pegged and my alert lights are all flashing red whenever I read or hear anything from NASA about why it is going to take so long. With the technology we have now, it should be even easier than in the 1960's.
But having said that, I can see how low-bidding everything, contractor corruption and other forms of deliberate stupidity can really add to how long a "project" might take.

I read the Fulford Interview #2. I personally think that guy's rap is a mixture of fact and fantasy. Did Rockefeller get wacked yet? That interview was on 7/26/07...what's happened since? I also see that Rense's style is to fill-in with comments of his own, and unless the guest actually says "NO!", it implies that that's what the guest said! And I see that this story progressed from him being just a mere journalist to now he's part of the Chinese secret society and close to the top, with spokesman authority. The BSD needle is peggin', bro!!!

Just got finished listening to Hoagy on the Dennis Miller Show.
At least he got the plug for the book out there on a semi-mainstream
daytime outlet. Even if Miller didn't believe (or at least said he didn't believe) the astronauts found important stuff on the Moon.
It's the old "giggle factor" that goes with ufology and other rconspiracy / disclosure theories.
I watched the first hour of the Project Camelot interview with Hoagland and it was interesting to me.

Did I ever tell you my Theory of the Universal Wife. Essentially, if you marry one woman you come under the wifely dominion of every other wife in the world. e.g. Mrs. Gort said exactly the same thing (although the words may vary) as Mrs. Sunking would have said had that been your idea.
You can experiment with this and it's easily provable as a scientific fact...the results are all too easily duplicatable!

SSC..My overall opinion about cloud cover here in the mid-west desert is that something has changed. Whether it's chemtrails out and over the Pacific or manipulating the jetstream to cause very heavy damage to the west coast including a tornado a couple of days ago that struck Vancouver, Washington and a flight crew that had a dozen strained neck injuries when the plane dropped a mile or so before it recovered just a hundred miles from me, I'm not sure. Many reports of Aurora Borealis responding to the latest sunspot 981 which indicates a polar flip flop on the sun and if you haven't bookmarked James McCanney's 9PM Thursday Science program.. well, he really has a different point of view for an old fart.
